It's bloody summer in Florida. I keep my room nice and cool with the door closed, but then my grandmother leaves my door wide open so the air from my room can cool off her room quickly right before she goes to bed instead of just turning on her fan earlier in the evening. That makes the temperature in my room go up.

Now, I can't sleep if it's too hot in my room, so I close my door back and turn up my AC so that I can fall asleep within two hours. The problem is that, even though I have a thick blanket, I tend to move around a lot in my sleep and end up pushing off my blanket.

This creates another problem because I also can't sleep if my room is too cold, which it has become in the night after the AC has been going for a few hours. Thus, I wake up feeling tired and grumpy at the bloody crack of dawn.

I can't simply go back to sleep for a few reasons. One is that my body wouldn't let me. Two is that, when I leave my room to use the bathroom, my grandmother encourages the dogs to go greet me, and they won't leave me alone. Three is that my friends like to call me around 10-11 in the morning, and it would wake me up again anyway. Four is that, once I'm awake, my grandmother assigns me tasks to do unless I head on over to my parents' house across the street.
