Tigers and Devils was the last book I read (reread, actually). Just for fun~

Lioshika 11-03-2012 11:28 PM

America & the Pill.

It was a class assignment.

Katame Shiraga 11-23-2012 11:33 PM

Uh....I think it was the second book in the Kane Chronicles by Rick Riordan. "Throne of the Sun" or "Throne of Ra" or something like that.

After Dark by Haruka Murakami

Katame Shiraga 11-24-2012 09:23 PM

>.> *Snicker* Ironic that the music and literary industries share products with the same name. (Referring to Agent Nights post and the song titled "After Dark" by Asian Kung-Fu Generation.)

Agent Night 11-25-2012 12:33 AM

Possibly not entirely a coincidence considering how Murakami uses music to shape the atmosphere of his novels. He does tend to favor jazz and classical music, but there is always the possibility XD

Katame Shiraga 11-25-2012 04:49 AM

>.> After Dark is Enka (J-Pop), though.

Lestrade 11-25-2012 02:32 PM

...wait, is it enka or jpop? They're not the same thing and I've never heard of Asian Kung-Fu Generation doing enka o.O

John Watson 11-25-2012 06:10 PM

Isn't enka that like...traditional sounding music? That seems very different than J-pop or any kind of pop music to me.

Agent Night 11-25-2012 07:30 PM

Enka is also used for a classification for more modern labels and can actually include jpop, though some jpop artists are surprised by this as well. However, it wouldn't be unusual for Haruka Murakami to use jpop music such as Asian Kung-Fu Generation as a tone setter in his novels considering he's a Japanese writer

I just finished Daughter of Hounds by Caitlin R. Kiernan. It wasn't bad, and I decided to check out some of her other work.

Cora 12-07-2012 06:11 PM

Ijust finished reading Bram Stokers Dracula for the hell of it this morning.

Xurxo 12-07-2012 11:26 PM

Mockingjay - agesssss ago. I'm working through Game of Thrones, noww, though.

Cora 12-08-2012 12:02 AM

Ilove the TV shows of Game of Thrones....I should add that to my read list.

Xurxo 12-08-2012 11:22 AM

It's a pretty good read. I would say that the TV show well captures the book (at least the first one - have not read or seen the second).

Kaunisenkeli 12-08-2012 09:12 PM

I just finished Caitlin Kiernan's The Red Tree. Altogether a better book than Daughter of Hounds.
