In regards to the NAZI's however, there is a reason they were the most powerful European army at the time. Up until 1940 Adolf Hitler was the most well respected European leader at the time because of his accomplishments and in either '37 or '39 TIME magazine nominated him Man of the Year. It wasnt until the end of the war that the majority of the world became aware of the ruthless cruelty of the NAZI's and the Waffen SS.

I remember that, well not remember because I wasn't alive but I learned about most of this stuff in European History. Its what happens when you take the reins of power after economic destruction. To me that is what makes FDR a great man and Hoover on the list of 10 most hated presidents. It was unfortunate that he had to be the president during an economic downfall.

I prefer Teddy to FDR. FDR kept the depression from getting worse, but he didnt, inherently, fix it. It was WWII that ended the depression and braught America into being a International Power.
