Well there is a bunch of stuffs on the front with the Romaji ^-^ that and you can ignore the Kana characters and watch for the Romaji version ^-^

It helps with sound <3

Quiet Man Cometh 12-26-2011 09:16 PM

mm. It appears so far from what I've seen that most of the sounds follow the sounds that English uses which makes it handy. Gets a little strange when one language uses a letter to represent a sound entirely different from what another language uses it for.

Demonskid 12-26-2011 09:18 PM

hana はな 花 flower
mori もり 森 forest

;-; i am getting lost with the rest of the hiragana.. K row turns to G x.x

Quiet Man Cometh 12-26-2011 09:43 PM

Those are different types of kana there? And 'mori' is forest?

Demonskid 12-26-2011 09:49 PM

yes mori is forest :3

And yes.. there are lots of kana :3

OH! http://www.learn-japanese.info/indexw.html
is a good site for vocab words ^-^

Hiragana (Half of the Kana)
http://www.learn-japanese.info/hiragana.gifhttp://www.learn-japanese.info/hiragana2.gif

Katakana (Other Half of the Kana)
http://www.learn-japanese.info/katakana.gifhttp://www.learn-japanese.info/katakana2.gif

.. then there are the the ones like Nya Nyu Nyo Pya Pyu Pyo Mya Myu Myo =w=, these are hard to remember the hiragana for..

Lucid: 01-06-2012 01:42 PM

to write the ones like Nya Nyu Nyo Pya Pyu Pyo Mya Myu Myo, you just use the regular Na Nu No Pa Pu Po et cetera, and add the corresponding Ya Yu Yo character after it, slightly smaller.

Also, pronunciation usually turns out better if you learn the hiragana and read from that because you don't have any preconceived ideas about how each character should sound, whereas when reading from romanji it's easy to pronounce each letter as it should be in English or another language.

Demonskid 01-06-2012 02:52 PM

Actually according to my kana cards and my kana lessons you use..

Ni+ ya,yu,yo depending on what one you want owo

nya nyu nyo

ni+ya ni+yu ni+yo owo

mi+ya mi+yu mi+yo

I'm ready to start on katakana! x3

Japanese pod 101 helps with pronoucniation

REAL japanese people teaching japanese xD

Lucid: 01-07-2012 02:42 PM

is it ni? hm. It's been a while since I did any Japanese. clearly my mind is failing me! D:

Demonskid 01-07-2012 03:19 PM

Yea you use the ki, shi, ni, mi, hi and add the ya yu yo parts to them owo

Lucid: 01-07-2012 05:00 PM

hmmmm interesting. At first I thought it made more sense my way, but now that I think about it, when I write my name, I have to use ji/ya se ri n. I guess part of me thought it was just because sa turns into za, not ja, but when you pronounce them all they do have a slight i sound to them.

Demonskid 01-07-2012 06:28 PM

Yup! See dk learned her hiragana! owo

Lost_Ninja9213 01-07-2012 06:42 PM

Japanese!!! this brings back memories, i started teaching myself in 8th grade or so, but stopped in a year or 2...i learned all the hiragana and a few katakana pretty quickly, but since i didnt have a good teacher didnt get very far..

Demonskid 01-07-2012 06:44 PM

owo I am using Japanese Pod 101 lessons xD they are very helpful..

Lost_Ninja9213 01-07-2012 06:59 PM

shinkamalei 01-16-2012 06:57 PM

well are you past the sheets i typed up?

and yeah!
her! lol
i fail xDD

Demonskid 01-16-2012 06:58 PM

I dont think i was confident enough to do them at the time ^^, I'm not too sure about sentence structuring x.x

shinkamalei 01-16-2012 06:58 PM

ah i c.
do you have an iphone or ipad or ipod touch?

Demonskid 01-16-2012 06:59 PM

I wish *cries* I really want a iPad

shinkamalei 01-16-2012 07:06 PM

the reason i ask is they have a really handy app that helps with sentence structure.
the main part of it is the verb.
when you get to them that is.
so what exactly are you have trouble with?

Demonskid 01-16-2012 07:08 PM

I barely started it xD

shinkamalei 01-16-2012 07:09 PM

oh i see.
so you are still on 'desu'?

Demonskid 01-16-2012 07:11 PM

yea.. from the notes I took from JapanesePod101 I can do

desu

and

desu ka

i think it is mostly the wa ga wo things that confuse me the most in there

I know 'no' means possessive ouo

shinkamalei 01-16-2012 07:16 PM

mmk.
well for me, learning the difference between wa and ga were the hardest.
and wo is an object particle that goes with verbs.
but with wa and ga, they are both subject particles.
the way my teacher explained it to me is ga is more specific.
like you could say 'david-san wa gaijin desu' or 'david-san ga gaijin desu'
they both mean: david is a foreigner.
however, with ga, it usually means the other people around him aren't foreigners or he is the only one who is a foreigner in the group.
it specifies that its talking specifically about david only.
but its more of an implication rather than saying "only david is a foreigner."

did that help?

Demonskid 01-16-2012 07:17 PM

Yes it did ouo lemme jot this down in my notebook

shinkamalei 01-16-2012 07:21 PM

alright ^^
there is more to ga use but when you use it with desu that's the best way i would put it.
there are certain verbs it MUST be paired with though sometimes those have exceptions.. but when to have exceptions.. thats a bit further down the line ^^;

Demonskid 01-16-2012 07:23 PM

xD now you are scaring me! hehe

question!

why is the particle pronounced as wa written as ha? ono

shinkamalei 01-16-2012 07:25 PM

i have no clue... so here is my googled answer:
http://www.speekit.com/a/japanese/wh...265241451L6Exq

Demonskid 01-16-2012 07:27 PM

Ohh ok.. -w- they should stop changing stuff then if they don't want to complicate stuffs xD

shinkamalei 01-16-2012 07:29 PM

i dont think they will be complicating it anymore xDD
more like the reverse.

and btw, didnt mean to scare u.
its jus things change depending on what u r trying to say is all ^^
