The new set is called Avacyn Restored, and it's the 3rd and final set in the Innistrad block.

Thank you thank you!
|
do you understand how sets and blocks work? o-o
|
..... not really? *sheepish*
|
I'm not an expert on them. but from what I've seen there are 'blocks' which consist of 3 different sets. the whole block will have an overall theme to it, and a story in the Magic Universe. I think there is also a New game mechanic added for each block, which is features in the 3 sets within it.
Take the Innistrad block for example. The first set being Innistrad, then Dark Asention, and now Avacyn Restored. The first two sets concentrated a lot on dark evil stuff. Mainly werewolves, vampires and zombies. the 3rd, up coming, set is more about angels and the banishing of the darkness from the previous two sets in the block. The Game mechanic that was introduced in the Innistrad block is the double sided flipping cards. |
Ok I understand that much. I have boosters from innistrad and dark ascension
|
and as I think it's the previous block and the current block that you will find in shops. So a total of 6 different sets available through regular stores. The other block we can get right now is the Mirridon block, in which infect was introduced, i think.
so, technically, if you want to improve your infect deck you're better of getting the mirridon boosters. They'll have a lot of infect creatures in them. |
I'm trying to get away from the major infect creatures because it can piss people off. And I haven't found exactly where the closest store is that sells them so i've been going to walmart and target to get booster packs.
|
I have a couple of stores near by that are dedicated to this sort of card game, table top games and board games <3
|
I got into Magic just as the Innistrad block was introduced, so I count myself lucky on missing the infect stuff and getting all my lovely zombies.
|
I currently run a Wurm deck, but I'm thinking of making a white Griffin deck. Not exactly sure how to make it though.
|
My green deck started off as a wurm/trample deck. I think the Wurms are my favourite creature type, other than zombies.
I have a friend who runs a Griffon/life gain combo. |
I collect the cards but I don't play anymore. I moved away from my playing partner. ono
I wish I remembered my MTGOnline password >x< |
I'm just not sure how to work it. I've got to get my friend to help a little.
I call my wurms my babies!!! |
mmm... magic.
I love it. I'm glad you did too Airi <3 My main colors are, Green White and black. I never run Red. And I only make blue decks when someone pisses me off enough to actually want/need counters. |
I always wanted a bird deck, but I could never be bothered to hunt down the cards I needed for it. Still. Aven Brigadier. Man is stone-cold badass.
Seriously. |
I've always wanted an Angel deck, but had the same problem.
^^; |
That card is kinda of disturbing XD but now i want it lol
|
Woot yay so many people here talking about magic!
Mizzy is actually the one that had me start playing in the first place. And she made me start with a tri colored deck first. slightly confusing at first but it worked. |
My cousin had me start with his B/W lifegain/drain deck which was all kinds of confusing. All I really learned from that first game is that Elesh Norn is terrifyingly awesome.
Never did get my hands on her for my own deck. *pouts* |
What do you mean Sheol? I think my first time playing it was a white black green deck if i remember..... ask Mizzy!
|
Airi, I tried to give you one of my more straight forward decks..
x.x; I'm sorry yeah it was white/black/green life gain, life drain lots of small creatures to come out fast if I remember... not one of my best decks ever, but it was easier then tokens everywhere or counters EVERYWHERE i thought so anyways... |
It was the black just confused me a lot. But I really liked the green and the white. And I do like my infect deck i just feel like its a bit too cheap to have the entire thing be infect.
|
yeah... infect is just mean
white/green are normally life gain i believe... at least thats what mine always ended up as |
Oh, I meant when I first started playing, my cousin taught me how to play.
I never really caught onto anything besides mono-color decks. I got to discouraged about never having the right special lands. |
its rare i use special lands honestly.
I like the basic ones. and the artifacts that give more land... or the creatures that come out and you can search your deck for more basic lands... it just always fit into my plans better to stick with basics. |
Yeah that makes sense. I just need to figure it out a little more.
|
figure out what?
we'll help as much as possible |
Figure out how to build a deck that you guys wont hate playing with. and also figure out how to play with anyone.....
|
you can play over skype? vid chats... with ren
and a good deck is a deck no one wants to play ^^; |
I guess. and its difficult with my mother to be on my computer....
|
right, i keep forgetting about that...
making decks is a try and try again concept. it gets easier soon enough you'll notice the cards that have to point and the cards that would go good in decks |
Yeah I understand that part of it. I think.
|
My favorite deck is actually one I just sort of threw together as I kept acquiring black cards I thought were cool. Ended up with a sort of jack of all trades deck with some really nasty big creatures with a few ways of cheating them out, some solid removal, some mana acceleration.
It's the funnest to play with for me, because all my other decks, I made a list and just bought the cards off of ebay. They just sort of... sit around. Even though they're good, they're not that fun to play. |
Ahhh that makes sense I guess. I found the closest store to me that sells magic. I went in to look around and it was this little hole in the wall that smelled like buttered popcorn.
|
ZOMG i just noticed this here.
*subs to thread* |
Thanks hyjin! *hugs* so what kind of deck do you like?
|
i have only one... white humans... or what my friends call it white weenies...
|
Lol that's cool though!
|
I have both a white Knights and white Soldiers deck. While the Soldiers tend to get higher numbers overall, the Knights get indestructible thanks to the Exemplar, and Mirran Crusader is just awesome.
My cousin has a white Samurai deck, but it doesn't hold up to either of mine. Samurai don't seem to synergize quite as well it seems like. My favorite part of decks like that, though, is how they pretty much always have something to play and I never get stuck holding onto situational or high-cost cards. |
