The girl really didnt understand most of what he said but she was ready. She put on both her shoulder bag and her backpack. they were a little heavy but she was athletic and could carry them easily. "So are we going to do this now or not?" The look of grim determination on her face made her seem more serious than ever.
He never answered her as he gave her a slight shove so she'd be forced to walk through the portal already. Bowing a little towards the human female before he did the same to ensure Asami wasn't in any danger. Though things went smoothly enough.. though she was probably feeling a bit ill not being use to traveling by portals and all.
Once they were both on the other side the portal seemed to slowly close behind them before vanishing. It wasn't that it was timed he had closed it to prevent the walkers if they were watching this little event to follow them. "Well lady Asami welcome back home after ten or so years." He was hardly really meaning that but he felt like saying it anyway. |
She didnt feel good being shoved through the portal "hey! rude!"
Once on the other side she blinked a few times. it was beautiful.. The land was gorgeous. so bright. The colors from the human world and this werent even able to be compared. "Wow... Its beautiful..." |
She'd get over being shoved, it wasn't like he did it that hard to begin with. Also he didn't feel like going through the whole just go already talk seeing as she was or at least seemed ready to go but at the same time was stalling. Though on the other side he was waiting for her to notice the changes in herself. Her human form wouldn't be active across the gate.
"The other realm use to look like this, from what I'm told anyway." It wasn't like he was that old to say he knew from being there first hand. "There's a number of differences though between the two now. There's no real electronic development, so yes that means no cars. Though I think magic well enough makes up for it." Also he'd rather have this land over the human realm any day. But at the moment he was waiting for her to freak out and have that over with already. She was use to humans and most of them at least looked similar to one another. Here .. that wasn't the case. There were a number of races that humans spoke about in fairy tales but that was about it. Though he'd hardly complain having his normal look back compared to the human one he had been forced to take on for at least ten years. |
The girl turned to face him something was wrong. He looked different. Scary even. What was going on. She looked down at her hands and noticed they to were a different color. She turned them over and over looking at it. It was strangely beautiful as well. She opened her pouch and extracted the small mirror. When she saw hee reflection she freaked out slightly."why am i blue?!? Did I die or something???" Her voice was a tad high pitched. She was trying to control herself but she felt very uneasy now.
He refrained from laughing, though it was very tempting to do so. "You were told you weren't human, did you think we were joking?" He sighed a little seeing as she was still freaking out over what she looked like. "no your not dead, there is a number of races here that don't share the common colors of the human world." How o explain this to her without taking it too far. "Your a fae, well part fae... most of the other races are ruled by your kind here. Though there are a few that seem to be bold enough to stand up against the faes power." Thus why she was even in the human realm in the first place.
This was going to be a long day he could see that now, sooner or later someone would figure out she was back in her own realm and then shed really be in for a ear full or two. Though he wasn't sure what they expected her to do, she wasn't trained in her kinds way. The odds she could control her powers at all were slim to none. |
"I never thought i would become blue??" She groaned "and even then pale blue... I look dead." She put away her mirror as if putting it away would make her be normal again."so uh... what do we do now" she looked a little nervous.."and I hope you know I've never been alone with a male. so don't take advantage of me" she eyed him a little and blushed a bit. she didn't know what to say or do around him. She was afraid this was going to be a long time...
"Trust me you don't look dead... Once things settle down I can show you what the dead look like." Not that he was being serious about that, most people stayed away from walking into certain parts of this realm if they could help it. "Simple we start walking. Standing here for forever won't get anything done now will it?" When she brought up something she had said before he almost glared at her. "Didn't I already explain this? the rules are the same here as they were in the other realm-"
He didn't get to finish that statement when someone else seemed to walk over to them. This other person seemed to be similar to her yet not at the same time. Probably a pure blooded fae instead of the half-breed she was. Though the comment this new comer spit out showed how the fae viewed lower class if they weren't ones themselves. "More or less he's your lap dog, you tell him to bark he better do so." The new comer laughed a little though it was quickly cut off when Alton glared at him. 'tsk... your damn lucky at that too..' he hissed under hi breath. 'or there might be one less fae that the elders have to worry about.' "Heh... " Was the only reply the other forced out, knowing Alton was hardly one to really mess with. "My lady Asami ... " He bowed before going on. "it is good to have you back home finally." |
Watching the exchange between the two, Asami was slightly startled "what... order?" She looked helplessly towards Alton to help her."oh um... hello.... who are you?" She too noticed the skin color though it was darker and it kind of swirled around. She knew she had to get used to this. people bowing. People trying to.kill her just because of who she was. Again she thought why me... but she glanced over to Alton again and her heart raced... well if it weren't for this I would have never met him... wait why am I thinking this. Asami stop it. You can't think that way
"My apologies my lady. I'm merely a greeter. I was sent here to ensure you were able to find your way to the safe house here. Sadly we can't just take you to the castle.. but all will be explained in due time." He lowered his head a little again waiting for her reply so it seemed.
Alton couldn't help but speak up when he said he was just a greeter. "You do know that makes you nearly as worthless as I right?" The fae seemed to frown at him, he had a point. "Least I don't have to go and kill myself." Alton shrugged a the comment. "I'd rather die then be stuck with the task of being a greeter for the rest of my days." The other man mumbled a bit knowing that there was no winning this little battle. The drow were hardly ones to try and insult. Let alone they normally weren't even allied with the fae. He never did understand why they plucked this one up and trained him to protect the princess of all people. |
"I don't think you guys are worthless..." after she spoke the girl blushed deeply."I mean.. no one is worthless... and so you guys aren't." She walked the shirt distance to them and grabbed Altons hands "and you. Will not be dying" she had a look of grimm determination on her face."I won't allow it okay? No dying. Ever." She couldn't loose him. She barely knew him but she knew if he left there would be a huge void in her heart. She turned to the other " and thank you for doing your job.."
They were still going back and forth a little when she spoke up causing them both to shut up. Though Alton was still glaring at the other when she took his hand causing him to look at her a little oddly. "You know you don't have a say in that right?" If her life was in danger and the choices came to it she had to be protected no matter what the cost of his own life. Thats what his job was. Though some would call it brainwashing almost, he never once saw it that way. Not considering the life he had before all of this.
The fae bowed again before speaking a little. "If you would follow me then.. I will take you to someone who can answer any questions you might have" He stepped to the side a little before walking off and pausing to make sure she was following. He would lead them to a fairly large house with runes and other protective barriers around it. Though it wouldn't affect her or anyone else who was allied with the fae. It would also be a good place for her to rest as well. Get something to eat and then prepare for the next day. Alton already knew that they would be traveling.. a lot. |
The girl gasped at the site of the house "is everything here just so beautiful..." she looked at Alton "why isn't the human world as beautiful? It seems this world stole all the beauty.... I mean I'm glad but it seems strange..." she sighed as she walked into the house. She felt so safe here "what time is it here anyways...?" She looked around and noticed all the intricate decor. It seemed as though fae went all out on decorating anything and everything...
"Well.. to put it bluntly. Humans hate things that they don't understand. So most of the beings that were born with magic were shunned or destroyed in the other realm. Plus they tend to destroy their own world without a second thought about it." He shrugged a little at the thought. Sure there were some who cared but not enough to make a true difference.
Once she walked inside and the door was shut he questioned her asking what time it was. "Time? Like period or time as in it's early evening right now.." As far as time period went this realm was far older then the humans. Maybe thats why this world had rules or a attempt at rules in place to keep the world from being destroyed. |
"Oh I see... thanks for telling me Alton.." she continued looking at the decor as they made their way to the main room. She always adored things of such beauty and hoped she could see them one day but never had she thought she would actually get to see such things."so what are we doing now?" She didnt know what to do here or why they were at this house at all..
The fae from before looked at Alton before speaking again. "They train you to do that too?" Alton smirked a bit. "Nope scholar is a side hobby." The greeter shook his head a little, what a odd one. Though Asami's question was quickly answered as another what seemed to be fae walked into the room and went up to her before hugging the girl.
"By the goddess your safe!" she exclaimed before releasing the now shocked Asami. "I'm sorry I should tell you who I am before... yes well I'm one of your subjects so to speak. I served your parents for many years, providing them with information when they needed it or a simple input if they asked." She bowed her head to the girl before straightening again. "You must have a million of questions, let alone your probably tired from all of this." She smiled weakly before offering for the girl to follow her. "This is one of the few safe houses left, evil cannot touch you here so long as it is protected. But don't worry about that.. is there anything you need at the moment or do you want to rest now?" She talked a little fast but it was very good news to have the next heir to the throne back where she belonged. |
Asami looked at Alton for help. she was surprised and shocked to be handled this way. I guess each car is different
"Umm... I don't know..." at that moment the girls stomach rumbled slightly yet it echoed in the silent room. The girls face flushed a bit "uh yeah... umm.. sorry..." she looked down embarrassed by her bodies noise. She didnt know if that was wrong but she couldn't control it.. |
The other woman sort of laughed at her before saying she'd go get her something at least to snack on till food was ready. Thankfully her greeter followed in her stead to leave the two of them alone. Alton probably had a few more insults left before he'd really end himself in trouble by being ready to kill the poor sob. Though that was one of the downsides to his kind, they had a rather quick temper. It was one you did not want to be on the receiving end for.
Noticing she seemed to fall quiet after the others had left and before e placed a hand on her shoulder to get her attention. "Stop acting like you just killed someone. Your suppose to be the next ruler remember? These are some of the few that would do about anything to ensure that you are taken care of." Sure he didn't expect her to just fall into her role but still she didn't have to be so timid or worry about she did something wrong. Though she had already.. but for the time being he'd just keep a eye on the little greeter. He wasn't sure if he would be bold enough to stick to fae customs or not. |
The girl looked at Alton "ummm.. Okay.. I dont know.. im so sorry.." she looked down at her hands twiddling them about. "I just am not used to this at all... please forgive me." She noticed his hand resting on her shoulder and her heart beat quickened... He must feel my heart racing. or hear it at least. why does this happen.. Her face flushed once more brighter than before as her heart thudded loudly in her chest. I fear it might burst... What is wrong with me??
He released her shoulder before folding his arms looking at her. "Stop saying sorry to, you have quite a bit to learn about the rules for this world." He sighed a little. He did notice her change in actions, but he never payed it much mind at all. His thoughts were hardly anywhere near that she was attracted to him in the least. He never brought it up though figuring that she was just nervous or over thinking all of this. It was a lot to take in.
"Maybe you should go sit down?" It was just a idea, he hardly wanted her to fall over from being stressed out. Thats what he figured her sudden actions change was from and her increased blood flow from her heart pumping faster. Though her blood flow was more of a .. learned talent, something she'd find out later about. He might seem peaceful enough but he controlled two of the darkest forms of magic. |
She nodded at him. "Will you.. will you come with me?" for some reason she wanted him to sit next to her. he made her feel safe though not that long ago she felt he was the enemy. Asami you are just crazy. Stop that. He is not nor will ever be interested in you. ever. so give up on it. She started to make her way over to a seat hoping he would follow her.
"Where else would I be going?" He asked, it was the truth. It wasn't like he had a choice in where he was going. His job was to keep a eye on her unless told otherwise. Sure most could say he might take his role a bit too far, but over all what else did he have to do with his life. After all he didn't have a family to go back to and considering the state he was in when they started training him, it was probably a miracle he was even alive still.
After she sat down he moved to lean against the wall near where she was crossing his arms again. There was a small amount of silence, though this was quickly disrupted as the woman from before walked back out. "Sorry this is all I could find.. um it's just fruits." She held out a small bowl with some fruit in it towards Asami. The woman seemed nervous, though truth was she knew that the foods here might be considered odd to the young future ruler considering how long she had been away. |
The girl sat on the sofa wishing that alton would join her.. damn why does he have to lean against the wall.. She watched the woman approach with the strange fruits nodding at her words. She waiting until the woman left before picking up one of the strange fruits. She sunk her teeth into it despite the rough exterior it was meaty on the inside. Juice ran down her chin. She pulled the fruit away to examine it closely. It was strange. The outside was dark red but hte inside was a weird brown color. but it was so good. She had to have more. She started to devour the fruit. Soon she found herself to be licking the juices off her fingers.
"wait whoa.. what just happened alton?" her eyes strayed to the other fruits she felt a longing to eat them but didnt want that demeaning thing to happen again. |
He wasn't going to say anything to her, but then again he forgot all about the fruits here as well. "Right.. maybe I should warn you some of the food here has a few strange effects.. Most of them are rather harmless though." Not that he couldn't reverse whatever someone tried to do if they did try and poison her.. not that it would be a pleasant process in the least. "I wouldn't worry about it too much."
"oh... well.." She felt the heat of the blush reach her face again. "I must have looked totally ridiculous.. but I couldnt stop myself. I dont know what happened." She looked down at the pit she held in her hand. Sudden anger rose from nowhere. She chucked the pit across the room. It burst through the wall. "Whoa?! What!! Why did it do that?!" The girl looked panicked and very very afraid. "Alton... What is going on with me?"
He was going to tell her not really, he had seen worse. Her body would have to get use to the food here seeing as she was in the human world for quite a while. Though he didn't get a chance to tell her this when she chucked the seed through the wall. "Well for starters.. your powers are untrained, secondly I did say the fruit can have a few odd side effects." He hardly seemed concerned about this. If things got too out of hand he could handle it then. "Just calm down, nothings wrong with you. Your not spitting fire or nothing and your skins not falling off. I promise your fine."
Curling up into a ball, the girl tried not to freak out anymore. "I guess I should just watch what i eat then... right?" She started to rock back and forth a little. What have i gotten myself into.... She looked over to Alton and wished she had his calm. She would never be like him. She would forever be a spazz.
"You could.. you'll adjust though I wouldn't worry too much about it." He was only calm because he pretty much expected this from her. They had been in the human realm for over ten years. He was about to leave well enough alone when he noticed she seemed to really be bothered by what was going on. Sighing he moved from where he was leaning against the wall and moved to sit next to her on the sofa. He sighed a little before speaking to her again. "You know cringing and rocking back and forth isn't going to make things go away."
She grabbed at him once he sat down and pulled herself up, leaning into him. She was having a little meltdown but he made her feel calmer. Her grip on his shirt was tight but she couldnt release it. "I... im just.. i dont know.. this is all just too weird for me alton.. i keep thinking its a dream and ill wake up but i dont.."
He was about to say something else when she grabbed his shirt and pulled herself closer to him. His ears dropped down a little not expecting her to do this, to admit he wasn't expecting her to do anything but sit there. "I know.. it's not a dream though. I wish I could tell you it was and that this wasn't happening or that you could just go back to the human realm." He looked away from her. "But it'll be ok.. Nothings going to happen to you and after things calm down I can take you back." He wasn't sure if it was safe to promise such a thing but he knew she wanted it.
She shook her head against his shoulder "I dont think after all of this happening, that i will be able to go back.." Tears started to fall from her eyes and drench his shirt. "Im so sorry alton... but think about it. I am told im a faerie princess.. at best if we survive i will have to stay here to rule a land i dont even understand. i wont be able to visit because even if we do live ill still have enemies and ill just put them in danger."
He shook his head a little, hardly worried about his shirt getting wet from her crying. "Says who? You forget once all of this is said and done your not going to be just the princess." He got her to move a little so she wasn't clinging to him. "You have a say in what you want to do. The only reason your even back here is because I can't protect you against a army. If I could then I wouldn't have even mentioned any of this to you in the first place." It was true enough. His job was to keep her safe, whatever she wanted he would try to get accomplished for her. Then again if he didn't listen that sooner or later she'd find out she had control over him no matter what he said about it.
"i just dont want to put them in danger alton.. I know that would happen if I returned. and I have duties to do right? if im a princess or is this realm different? I would imagine i would have a lot to do.. I need to be strong.." Her eyes moved to his face. "Wait. does being a faerie mean i have special powers or something. and you said i was half fae before. What else am i?" She was getting a little excited now at the prospect of magic and powers.
"There would be duties yes, but you are allowed to take personal time. It's not like the realm would fall apart.. it's been without rule for... a while we'll say that." it was true enough, the kingdom had fallen years ago. it had just taken the other side a while to locate where she was hidden. Though to change topics he sort of shrugged a little. "Never bothered to ask, you'll have to find that answer elsewhere. My job is to make sure you survive, not to ask questions." Thinking on what she was asking about the powers he nodded a little. "Yes that means you get powers... though you'll need training in them unless you remember what you knew from back when you were a child." He had grown rather use to her not being able to do any magic... so when she figured out she had control over him due to how the guardian ritual was set up he had a feeling he'd have to watch his mouth a bit more.
"oh okay then.. Who will train me?" She looked at him with anticipation in her eyes. "I hope it will be fun. Though i probably should know more about the world..." She thought for a moment "Well.. I dont think i remember anything all i can recall is what has happened in my dreams.." She sighed against his shoulder. "I am a tad bit tired... Where are those people again?" She looked around the room a bit seeing if anyone would enter
The woman had walked back into the room when she had asked where they were. Though she did over hear what the two were talking about at the end. "Why don't you train her Alton?" He started to agree with her and stopped before looking at the woman. "Ye- wait why me?" She smiled at the question before walking over to Asami and offered her a small bowl, it seemed to contain a simple stew.. even if it did look a little odd compared to the human world foods.
"Well for starters your one of the best battle mages we have, also you already know what she's capable of. Oh did I forget that you read enough to make a scholar sick of words and probably know more then you let on?" He seemed to still dislike this idea but i seemed he had himself in a corner. "I get it already, I'm watched and if I say no something is bound to happen." He waved one hand in the air lazily. "Like i have a choice.. isn't it up to her though?" |
The girl let go of Alton and accepted the soup gratefully and sipped it slowly as the two talked between themselves."ummm.. I would rather you train me than a stranger Alton..." after that she was quiet again sipping her soup some more. She was imagining doing magics of all sorts and was getting a little excited.I wonder what other wonders this world holds... dragons? Unicorns? Oh this is so exciting.
He started to protest but didn't instead as he sighed a little. "Considering what I was called within a few hours span I think I can still be labeled as a stranger." The woman blinked a little looking at them both. "don't ask.." He said before leaning back and sighing heavily. "How am I suppose to teach her anyway? I know dark arts, fae magic is hardly the same thing. They go off of emotions among other things, it's a bit more complicated then telling someone shoot a damn fireball."
She barely listened to the conversation as she absentmindedly ate her soup. She was very excited and a bit nervous to learn magic. Now that she was over being totally terrified she was excited. She wanted to have adventures like the ones she's read about. maybe fall in love... she side glanced at Alton. She hoped to see many wonders.. so exciting
"Oh stop complaining already, you don't have a say in the matter seeing as she said she'd rather you do it." His ears went back a little before crossing his arms listing to what the woman said. "Doesn't mean I have to enjoy or agree with it.. but fine... Tomorrow though." Seeing as she was complaining she was tired a few moments ago. Also it was hardly a smart idea to rush it. He didn't think he had signed up to be teacher and guardian in the same run...
