If I had to choose between tea or coffee, I'd definitely say coffee. I'm not particularly fond of coffee unless it's sweetened highly, but tea tasted really bad to me. xD Maybe once my taste buds develop further I'll like it? xD |
My favorite tea is the Red Rooibos tea. It's quite delicious actually, but I worked with other types of tea as well, including earl grey, irish breakfast and fruit teas.
|
I don't much like Roiboos. Mentioned that already I think. Just not my thing. Don't think my stomache likes it much either.
I've tried Yerba Mate a couple times. Tastes very grassy. Not all that fond of it either but it's okay mixed in with other things. Celesial Seasonings' "Morning Tunder" is a mix of Yerba and black tea. I mix the straight stuff with herbal often. |
I <3 tea, but it must me sweet and cold. But I'm also from the south so that's how we roll lol
I like some herbal teas...and I wish walmart carried blackberry tea. I loved the stuff I had at Chili's. That blackberry tea was great! But I also love soda...so....yeah .-. |
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/b...ts/2j1qtxs.png I prefer tea. Coffee is far too bitter for me and I can't stand it at all. Tea is much sweeter and tastes wonderful ~ http://i843.photobucket.com/albums/z...keyblade-1.png |
I actually read a short piece of fanfiction that took place in the Southern USA and two of the character's when out for lunch, the "Northerner" almost choking on the sweet tea.
|
D:
BLASPHEMY! HOW DARE HE DEFILE THE TEA LIKE THAT?! LOL |
Apparently the lady who ran the place was very forgiving and brought him some water instead. ;)
It's neat to find this stuff out though. I like it when little details about places work their way into stories. Makes them seem more real and it's fun to encounter them. I'm poking fun at my mother's own taste for extremely hot and extremely weak tea right now. She doesn't know that of course. Maybe when the story gets printed, if it ever does. |
I hate weak tea. My mother's tea tastes like water, but she complains when I use more tea bags so it will taste like tea -.-
She uses two family tea bags for a gal. It says to use 4 or more on it -not sure because different brands say different things- I use four and the tea...then tastes like TEA! |
I'm not sure quite what means since I'm only vaguely aware of what a gallon is (4 liters I think?) and don't make that much tea at a time. All I can say for myself is 1 bag for a cup and 2 for a pot.
|
4 quarts not liters.
16 cups of tea. Then you're using normal tea bags. We use family size because we make it by the gal instead of a cup. And I hate hot tea. It doesn't taste right unless it's green or herbal tea. |
Ah. I love hot tea of any kind. Not as fond of iced tea but I never think to make it much. I usually just get it from a bottle or market.
I see I have some looking up to do. Oh well. Apparantly a litre and quart are not too much differnt but I follow. I let my tea steep for ages if it's black. When it's green or herbal I try to pay more attention so it doesn't go bitter. |
Oh, see I put mine in a pot...bring it to a boil and wait for the tea pot to whistle....then add sugar and water. Stir and put it in the fridge. It's really good, but I've lived in the south my entire life lol
|
Ah. Sounds interesting. I braved mulled red wine and found that tastey. I could give that a try. Are there any absolute must knows for making proper Southern sweet tea? Or as close as one can get to it? ;)
|
It must have SUGAR! LOTS OF SUGAR!
I put two cups to the gal. Dunno how that translates to liters or anything. And everyone has a different method of making it. My dad had a thing about letting boil and sit for an hour or so...maybe that is how he made it taste like actual tea and used 2 tea bags....I dunno. |
I drink both heavily. Tea usually is either Luzianne or Lipton. Coffee is typically Folgers or (when I'm feeling an urge) Starbucks (or similar) fancy coffee. Not a day goes by where I don't ingest some kind of caffeine.
|
Yeah. I drank so much tea in college that I started getting caffiene headaches in the morning if I didn't have at least one cup. It's my daily ritual now. Much have tea when I get up.
|
I've never had that problem.
The only time I've had that....is one day I drunk mountain dews over my brother's place since that was all he had. The next day I didn't have any (I had tea/other sodas) and I got a headache from it. |
I don't like tea OR coffee.
I'll stick to my water. o n o |
I like green tea, or milk tea :3 so yummy! xD
|
I absolutely love tea. I don't love just the iced sweet tea that's usually found here in the deep south. I love milk tea and hot tea as well.
Most of my family... well, all my family... doesn't understand how I can love tea so much. Sometimes I'll just randomly brew up some tea in the afternoon. Right now, my favorite kind of tea is coconut milk tea with boba. For those of you who are tilting your heads and asking "What's boba?", boba is merely tapioca pearls. They're like sweet, flavorless gummy bear spheres that adapt to the flavor of whatever they're in, much like how tofu does. |
I love tea, It's one of the few things I cannot live without, my favorite type of tea would have to be Vanilla Chai or Earl Grey.
I can't stand coffee, it just tastes bad to me. |
Quote:
Well sorta. ;). We have that all around here, though I'm not sure how much actual tea is in them. The tapioca balls are popular though. I've seen the standard milk tea variety as well as smoothes that some places make. Muse, I'm fond of Vanilla Earl Grey when I can find it. Mighty Leaf makes a vanilla bean tea that is really good, but the brand is expensive so I rarely indulge. |
Around here in my area...we have tea....normal sweet/ice tea stuff....some green tea....and some herbal teas. None of that tapioca ball thing. AND WHAT IS BUBBLE TEA? I don't understand it D:
|
The "bubbles" refer to the tapioca balls in the bottom of the tea. It's just called "bubble tea" around here. I live in Vancouver BC which has a heavy Asian population so Bubble tea and sushi joints are everywhere.
|
Oh. Okay then. No one before would explain to me what bubble tea was .-.
We have white people. We have black people. And random few of Mexicans/Asians/Etc. We segregate ourselves....pretty much >> << |
The standard ratio for milk tea is 50/50, but some places will let you choose to have more of one or the other.
My favorite tea bar does boba in their smoothies, too. I even saw rainbow tapioca pearls at my favorite Asian market the last time I was there. That made me so happy! |
My tea collection has actually pretty extensive but my very favorite is a black tea with rose petals and buds called "Queen of Hearts." It's by the Republic of Tea
|
Well, I have to sat that Chai through a Tim Tam is one of the more interesting things I tried.
On that note, I also made some milk teas, 50/50 the other day because I didn't want it strong, and I just put the milk in the hot tea but didn't stir. The result was this sorta warm on the bottom, cool on the top drink. Kinda fascinating. |
It works well if you use a margarita shaker.
|
Uhhh, margarita shaker? With tea?
|
The tumbler thingy. Whatever the thing you mid it in is called.
|
Oh yeah, I know what a martini shaker is, just wasn't sure what you were referring to. You mean for stirring? I thought it was neat because without stirring the temperature hadn't equalized yet so it make for a funky sensation when sipping.
|
Yup, that's what I mean. You put the ice in it, too. That's now the folks at my favorite tea bar do it, and their stuff is extremely yummy.
|
I like coffee with a hint of vanilla in it.
I do not like to drink it straight from the pot without any sweetener. Tea is alright though I don't like tea in resturants because to me it tastes wierd. But if its tea then I like it minty. It really helps out with colds. So I guess I am more of a coffee person. |
/flails
A tea thread ? Oh my ! I had no idea where to start posting but I think this is a brilliant spot . x3 I'm kind of new here I guess , and a horrendous tea addict . xD The first kind of tea I don't like , I still have to come across . ^_^;; |
I only like Lipton Green Tea and any brand of lemon tea.
>w<. |
I love chai tea, regular ol' Earl Grey, ice/sweet tea, and green tea.
I don't get a lot of variety where I live, but on the other side of town there is an amaaaazing tea store in the mall that I want to go on a shopping spree at. It's got a ridiculous amount of different kinds of tea, considering that I live in some lame city in Northern Florida where "tea" to most people means the iced kind. I still love coffee, though. x: |
ILOVETEA. D<
ALLKINDS. /drinks like6-8 cups of it a day I'm currently drinking Prince of Wales, Irish Breakfast and this stuff I found at World Market called Barry's tea. LOVEIT. |
I was having Dutch Blend but it's all gone now .
