Yeah, one of my professors asked me today (I was flipping through my sketchbook and she looked over) why I’m not an art major. And like...I don’t want to ever be forced to do art, or /have/ to do art, etc. I don’t want to do anything that would make art /not fun/. And one of the reasons is, it’s a huge part of my identity, and also one of my main coping methods for depression. Can’t afford to lose that.

bluebird 09-14-2018 05:48 PM

amen to that 👏👏those are also my reasons not to major in art. i can't draw all the furries i want if i go professional. plus it's too expensive and it doesn't guarantee a job since the field is so cutthroat competitive.

Espy 09-14-2018 07:37 PM

Man, trying to remember when the last time I drew a furry was.

...Probably a really damn long time ago. I should get on that.

Also yeah I had to split poor CRT into two (you can see it from my siggy on my profile) because the full one got shrunk to...whatever the image limit is.

Espy 09-16-2018 08:39 PM

??? I don't know what I'm doing.

mdom 10-25-2018 03:14 PM

Ation is a good OC name

ALSO YOU'RE SO GOOD ESPY
look at those effortless folds

Espy 10-25-2018 03:34 PM

why is *everyone* talking about the way i draw folds? they're not even that good...?

bluebird 10-26-2018 10:56 PM

everyone is sleeping on that 3D collar 👀

Espy 10-27-2018 06:18 AM

That... actually didn’t come out quite how I’d wanted. I’ve always had issues w coat collars :|

bluebird 10-27-2018 11:11 AM

you're your own harshest critic 🤷 the shirt collar is really nice too. it's got a thickness to it

Serra Britt 10-27-2018 02:18 PM

I know you say you aren't good at fabric folds Espy...but you at least do them which is more than I can say for myself often XD

Espy 01-04-2019 07:35 PM

I tried a thing and the result was confusion.

also my lungs are full of sharpie fumes

hhhhheck zoom out for best experience

Merskelly Metalien 01-05-2019 02:40 AM

O.O Wow! I really like it! That's a whooooooollllle lotta sharpie tho. <x} That must've bled a lot! Great job, :] *clapclapclap* even though you might be a little overwhelmed with the sharpie smell. :[

Espy 01-05-2019 05:16 AM

Thanks. I ended up coughing a decent bit, and my voice cracked more than usual while vchatting.

Merskelly Metalien 01-05-2019 03:14 PM

I used to do really primitive drawings of my dreams when I was younger, entirely in sharpie. <x[ I feel ya.

Espy 01-08-2019 08:23 PM

I actually haven’t drawn many of my dreams. Weird, really.

Espy 03-21-2019 03:02 AM

Updated. Hadn't done so since over a year ago, but I've barely done any art in the past year.

EDIT: Uh, fixed, because apparently I can't read my own darn instructions.

Espy 04-16-2019 10:01 PM

A few sketches that I did recently that I don’t think are good enough to make it into the actual gallery

Derpy McBlueEyes 04-16-2019 10:08 PM

Derpy wanders in.
"WOW! Those are reawy good!"

Espy 04-16-2019 10:17 PM

Aww. Thanks, Derpy.

Merskelly Metalien 04-19-2019 02:48 AM

*pops in to admire the hands* q-q <3 Great hand. Beautiful hands. Avi art. Faces. *holds up a 10 scoring board for the sketches*

Espy 04-19-2019 06:55 AM

Haha, I love drawing hands. Thanks.

Merskelly Metalien 04-19-2019 02:49 PM

x'} My hands typically look like noodles made of hay and soggy ghosts, haha! What's easier to draw for you, fists or open hand?

Espy 04-19-2019 05:56 PM

Hmm, depends on orientation and perspective. Fists can get a bit wonky due to foreshortening, but open hands can be 100x worse if they’re pointed at you.

Merskelly Metalien 04-19-2019 07:33 PM

<xo ohhhhh no, I hate that!
*raises arms in the air shaking them* <x{ Darn you 3D Perspectiiiiive!

Espy 04-19-2019 08:46 PM

TBH I'd rather draw hands in weird perspectives than arms, because that's just a lot harder for me, for some reason.

Espy 04-20-2019 06:18 AM

Can't sleep, Did art.

"Prerequisite of giving a character a new hairstyle is that I need to be able to draw it... clearly, my aptitude is... debatable. Oh well, [he] doesn’t look terrible.

Whatever altercation he’s just come out of, his tie didn’t survive the ordeal."

Take a guess at how old and what ethnicity he is; I *tried* to convey it but I'm still having issues drawing specific features.

Merskelly Metalien 04-21-2019 02:18 AM

Heeeee iiiisss an older Asian guy? o-0 Maybe not...>.>; I don't know why mind went to "brooding alien man with a heavy past"..how that is Asian? <x/

Espy 04-21-2019 05:28 AM

Hah, us Asian peeps usually don’t have cheekbones like that.

Unless you’re my mom, in which case, you do.

Yakov is Russian. Probably around 36. Quite a bit younger than he looks; being a spy/agent is taxing.

Merskelly Metalien 04-21-2019 01:22 PM

Oohh, I see. o.o Great job on his expression to reflect that. <x} I've never studied anyone Russian so I probably wouldn't have guessed that ehehe. In my mind, someone Russian just looks light, square chinned and tough. xD With a bear.

Death by Mirrors 04-21-2019 02:45 PM

...I will remember to add a bear if I ever attempt to draw anyone Russian. Except that I never could make it work so nicely as you, Espy. Well done ^^

Espy 04-21-2019 04:36 PM

Honestly I don’t think I did too great with it; there are still some minute details I could have tweaked to make it better. Also wtf did I do to his ear.

Death by Mirrors 04-22-2019 01:33 PM

Ok, now that you mentioned it, the ear looks slightly off indeed. But you've never seen me draw, so I stand by my initial judgement.

Espy 04-22-2019 03:45 PM

Would be interested in that.

Espy 05-29-2019 12:37 AM

D&D tokens, 2/??, starring my kenku rogue and my friend's warforged fighter.

bluebird 06-05-2019 12:18 AM

oh bird's eye view. really like the how the backsides are shown. v nice tokens

Espy 06-05-2019 01:24 AM

So I, uh, actually mostly traced models made in HeroForge, because boy am I bad at top-down views. But at least they're helping me get a grasp on how to draw from that really weird perspective.

bluebird 06-05-2019 02:02 AM

hey at least u honest abt it 🙌 i think it's fine to trace to learn and for personal use.

Espy 06-05-2019 02:25 AM

Mhh. I used to hate tracing, but then D&D tokens happened and...really, I can't be assed to draw that shit from scratch.

bluebird 06-05-2019 04:17 PM

well i mean, who wouldn't cave for D&D stuff.
i used to have 0 tolerance for tracing, but now i'm like it's ok as long as credit is given and isn't sold for profit.
