Very convenient, especially for people like me that are usually brain dead by 9PM!

i'm usually brain dead most of the time! XD

I reset my password and then promptly forgot what it was so I haven't been on in a while because I didn't want to reset my password again. I got home, couldn't read my writing (I actually wrote it down!) and then had to reset anyway.

Still reading An Imaginary Life. I was planning on leaving it at 'home base' back where I was with my mom (and where half of my stuff resides) as the book stack out here is getting bigger.

This thread is actually making me try to read more, which I think it also helping out my mental state these days, with stress from school and health and such. I've probably put more time in the past month or so than I have in a while. I have to update my list!

Moonshadow 03-21-2017 09:39 PM

I agree that using this thread makes me read a little more. I am already way ahead this time of the year than I was last year. Last year I spent so much time on stupid stuff online instead of reading. I have weaned myself off most of it.

I am happiest when I am reading and in a reading mood!

I just finished Clara Callan, and have two more books I'm in the middle of. I like to keep it to one fiction and one non-fiction, but I seem to be reading more non-fiction now.

I always forget about this thread. So it doesn't really help me to read more.
But I might possibly be ahead of last year...although I don't honestly remember.

Quiet Man Cometh 03-22-2017 10:03 PM

I'm having a hard time not starting another book. I'm lying in bed at night and don't feel like reading Imaginary Life and I keep leaning towards my Clive Barker book that is still sitting there. Not sure why I have a thing for reading horror and creepy things at night. Doesn't feel quite right at other times, at least when I was reading Lovecraft it didn't.

Then there's Memories of Ice. It's been staring at me for over a year now, maybe 2? It's a good thing I have a decent memory for things I read.

Kaderin Triste 03-22-2017 11:55 PM

Haha...I understand the starting a new book thing. I keep reaching for a book I picked up the other day only to remind myself that I have several books I need to finish first.

Quiet Man Cometh 03-24-2017 01:42 AM

...I bought another book today. But it was on sale! And it was only one book. Usually I leave with more. I only left with one can of tea from the tea store, too. Those are my two downfalls when I'm out shopping.

Kaderin Triste 03-24-2017 02:26 AM

Tea shops are the best!
And hey. Only one book? That's some good willpower!

trystan830 04-02-2017 11:17 PM

i've updated my list! it's #7 on page 1. =)

Indeed! But I'm allowing myself to look at it until I've finished either Memories of Ice or An Imaginary Life. The latter is pretty short but I'm being stubborn about finishing it, and I find I just can't really read a lot of MoI in one sitting. Need to take the time to absorb and think about what I read.

Kaderin Triste 04-04-2017 08:10 PM

Yeah, books like that can take a while to get through. What is Memories of Ice about? Is it fiction or non-fiction? Also, same questions about An Imaginary Life.
I might have to hunt down a copy of it/them to read...

Moonshadow 04-04-2017 10:31 PM

Hi guys, how are you all doing. OMG I forgot my own thread, I get so tired at night lately.
I have not been reading much, though I am further along on my goal than I was last year at this time. I have been reading mostly non-fiction. Has anybody read any really good books lately?

Kaderin Triste 04-05-2017 02:57 PM

I've read a book or two. Mainly have just been struggling through the same ones as before though.

Moonshadow 04-05-2017 11:05 PM

Are you still reading The Devil in the White City? It is right up there on my to-read list. As is H is for Hawk which was very popular about a year ago.

Right now I am reading a book on Buddhism called Being Peace by Thich Nhat Hanh, it is very good. I have read a lot of his books.

Kaderin Triste 04-06-2017 01:15 AM

Ah no. I finished that one back in January.
I'm currently actively working on When True Night Falls, The Masterharper of Pern, and a few other books. And have a few others that I started months ago, but need to re-start.
