I can't wait! I am going to be making this for lunch! :)

http://www.ihop.com/menus/main-menu/...tte.png?mh=367

The down side is that i've got lots of errands to do today.

Laundry, dishes, shopping... :(

Tohopekaliga 12-05-2015 01:01 PM

:O That looks super fancy.

When I make omelettes, it's usually just the "folded in half egg circle with stuff in the middle." The "stuff" being either just cheese, or leftovers from various other cooking projects.

Fulkth 12-05-2015 01:39 PM

lol, that's what I do too.

Well, I am off. Be back in a few hours.

Tohopekaliga 12-05-2015 02:00 PM

Have fun. :)

Glitch 12-05-2015 02:15 PM

I have never successfully made an omelette.

Tohopekaliga 12-05-2015 02:22 PM

It's a skill you learn, apparently. My mom taught me when I was 10 or so. (She said something like, "okay, you're old enough to use the kitchen, you're gonna learn to cook things yourself.")

My girlfriend cooks all kinds of things. Very tasty stuff. But she can't do omelettes, for some reason.

Glitch 12-05-2015 02:37 PM

Well that sounds like me, I love cooking and baking but the idea of omelettes is scary.

Fulkth 12-05-2015 07:02 PM

I need to find a better method on how to cook an omelet.

Because all I have been doing so far is...making a giant egg patty (cook one side, then flip to other side so both sides are cooked).
Dump toppings on top. Then cover with a lid to melt the cheese.

Tohopekaliga 12-05-2015 07:12 PM

I generally mix 2 eggs together in a bowl, add a bit of seasoning, pour that into the pan, let it cook enough to not be see-through, then immediately put the fillings on it (cheese and whatever else) before it's cooked all the way. Let it sit a bit longer, then fold it in half. Flip that a few times, and call it good.

Salone 12-05-2015 07:15 PM

Wait wait wait...people can make omelettes?

Tohopekaliga 12-05-2015 07:21 PM

What, did you think they were grown fully formed and cooked? lol

Fulkth 12-05-2015 07:27 PM

Okay so the recipe that I have been using calls for 3 eggs.

I doubled the recipe and ended up using 6 eggs.

Do you know how hard it is to flip 6 eggs all at once? O.O

I somehow did it though. XD

-----------
Next time, I just have to fold over the egg patty in half and I will have an official omelet. xD

Tohopekaliga 12-05-2015 07:30 PM

Oh gosh, that's a lot of egg.

Ireland 12-05-2015 08:05 PM

EGGS!

I'm still full from brunch...but always open to talk about food. >___>;

Fulkth 12-05-2015 08:11 PM

We're having chili for dinner.

I like to make mine extra fancy by adding sour cream, onions and cheese.

Ireland 12-05-2015 08:17 PM

I'm not sure what we are having. It's a special day for me today...so my boyfriend is going to get or make something yummy for dinner. :3

I hope your chili is scrumptious.

I'll be honest, last time I had an omelette, I'm pretty sure I was in a single digit age. And pretty sure it was some sort of prepackaged travesty. I guess I just haven't really encountered them since?

Fulkth 12-05-2015 08:29 PM

@Ireland
Congratulations on your special day!

That's so sweet of your boyfriend!

My husband hates cooking so the most I get out of him is frozen pizza, mac and cheese, or hamburger helper. XD

Ireland 12-06-2015 12:24 AM

Glitch - I totally agree. XD

Tohopekaliga 12-06-2015 12:56 AM

Occasionally, I say witty things.

Usually I just muddle through, making lame jokes.

But those lame jokes are sometimes the best jokes. :p-cute:

Fulkth 12-06-2015 01:28 AM

Hey, at least you can tell jokes.

I can't tell a joke to save my life. XD

Ireland 12-06-2015 02:42 AM

I find myself being a distraction at times...but I ADORE making people laugh. I really do. Laughter is really healing and special.

Fulkth 12-06-2015 10:55 AM

It's like a miracle drug! It can make all your problems go away (if only for a moment). XD

Rose Pearl 12-06-2015 02:15 PM

hello everyone. It's been a while since I was here.

Tohopekaliga 12-06-2015 02:18 PM

It sure can! It can bring me out of being anxious as well. Which is a total blessing.

Hello Rose! :p-grin:

Fulkth 12-06-2015 03:09 PM

You know the strange thing is....I want to roast another turkey even though I just had turkey a couple of weeks ago.

Someone tell me that I'm crazy... XD

Coda 12-06-2015 03:13 PM

I get fancy when I make my omelets. >.>

I put the eggs in a bowl and add a little bit of milk (for creaminess) and water (for fluffiness) and seasonings (pepper and sage with a bit of salt is a good choice but I vary it up based on my mood) and whip it up really good, then I mix some of the cheese in with the eggs (so that the flavor is well-distributed) and possibly bacon and green onions before pouring the batter into the skillet.

Since I mix all of the good stuff into the batter, I don't have a "fold stuff inside" step generally, but I'll top it with more cheese, or with sour cream, or with more bacon or green onions, or whatever I'm in the mood for.

Omelets are flexible!

EDIT: ... I should get a couple habaneros from my garden and make an omelet for myself soon.

Glitch 12-06-2015 03:14 PM

You're not crazy, i LOVE BAKING TURKEY!

littl3chocobo 12-06-2015 03:16 PM

we had turkey last night XD

Fulkth 12-06-2015 03:19 PM

Wow, look at all those fancy toppings! Mine had steak, bell peppers, white onions, mushrooms, and tomatoes! I should switch it up and try it with bacon next time!

That's a great idea about mixing the ingredients with the egg!

My recipe called for me to whisk 3 eggs with 1 tablespoon of sour cream.

Thank God we had chili the next day because I didn't know what to do with a full 16 oz tub of sour cream....

Glitch 12-06-2015 03:24 PM

YOu bake cookies and use the sour cream in the cookie batter so they are more delicious.

Fulkth 12-06-2015 03:26 PM

That's a great idea! I need to find a cookie recipe that uses a lot of sour cream! XD

Fulkth 12-07-2015 01:35 AM

I took a nap and felt like crap when I woke up. But now I feel much better!

Tas 12-07-2015 03:02 AM

gotta say, as a pacifist in real life, I love any game that you can beat without killing anything.
