I saw an interesting thing where somebody used those super-cheap craft foam sheets you can get at Jo-Ann and the like to make a good quality costume helmet--so I'm experimenting with that stuff (by trying to make this helmet).

:) It can be hard sometimes. Makes me feel bad when I do it too much (which, I have to admit, I have been doing too much for far too long)...So...trying to fix that. Mostly that means less video games, and mindlessly browsing stuff.

Not stopping that completely, of course, just...making it not be most of my waking hours outside of work.

Hmm...I'm gonna see about having this foam helmet thing shaped properly and not full of holes, then I'm gonna do some server admin stuff for another website.

Then I'll probably play Supreme Commander for a while.

Because I like cosplay, and I'm experimenting with ways to make better stuff than my first try.

Well, the first time I ever did it was actually just a couple weeks ago, at Otakon in Baltimore, and I was a Megaman character. I'd like to make a better version of the helmet (and a more complete everything else that's hidden under the cloak).

My current experiment, though, is intended to be a simpler helmet than that one--X's. Whether or not I ever actually use it is questionable.

I played around with PHP before I actually learned to program. I had no idea what I was doing...But I could at least copy/paste stuff around in HTML to make templates do stuff.

Then I learned how to program in school, and PHP made a heck of a lot more sense to me.

I'm doing this as a hobby so should be fun.

Programming/Coding is a lot like solving logic puzzles, which I always liked doing as a kid. Can be...somewhat more frustrating at times, but it's still got quite a few similarities.
