Why yes it is. Cause I need to spend about 500$ on Fabric for my next cosplay.

Lauv Keiko 05-13-2011 11:14 PM

Wow...that's pretty expensive... >A<;

NikkoGallarado 05-14-2011 12:20 AM

That it is. I will love this next cosplay.

*borrows Nikko's Reno cosplay* x3

You can buy ready-made cosplay outfits, which are slightly cheaper, but they might not fit right.

I WILL FIND THAT SWIMMING POOL SOMEDAY!!!

I've only ever made one cosplay outfit, and it was for a friend. I made her a cosplay outfit of Kairi from KH2. I spent about $200 on fabrics, dress patterns, and other supplies. I was so happy my mom bought me a sewing machine, though! There were parts I had to stitch by hand, of course, but the sewing machine really saved me a lot of time and frustration. I'd have to say the worst part of making the whole outfit was sewing in the zipper. Zippers are always a pig to use.

I'm too picky when it comes to cosplay to buy something ready-made.

Most of the characters I deal with either have embroidery involved or are too obscure to be mass-marketed. So I either have to make it myself or have it specifically commissioned.

My next cosplay is going to be either Arietta the Wild or Fon Master Guard Anise Tatlin from Tales of the Abyss... or possibly Hungary from Axis Powers Hetalia XD

Ashurato 05-14-2011 11:19 AM

I was preparing my cosplay as Prince from 1/2 Prince and Tsubaki from Trinity Universe for this year's AX, but then someone was fired at work and doubled all of our workload.

Now I'm doubtful I'd finish them.

Reyoki 05-14-2011 11:43 AM

I haven't had much spare time for costume-making, either. I could start now, since the Spring Semester is over, but I have no money for materials T~T

I could really use a summer job, but nobody will hire me because I have no experience. The only way I can get experience is if someone will hire me, though!

Ashurato 05-14-2011 11:46 AM

Exactly! The thing is that so many people have been laid off due to the recession that the hiring market is impossible at this point in time.

I do hope you find something! Oh, have you tried temp placement agencies?

Reyoki 05-14-2011 11:57 AM

I don't know if we have any of those around here. There's this one place called Adecco in town that supposedly helps you with getting hired, but when I went there nobody would even talk to me. They just handed me the company card and sent me on my merry little way.

I've gotten interviews at a few places, but once they see that I have no previous work experience my chances of employment are reduced to zero. Even the movie theatre and Target wouldn't hire me!

Ashurato 05-14-2011 12:00 PM

Target?!

They hired my friend who had absolutely NO work experience.
I thought they hired people really easily. You may want to try again a little later (or when it's the busy season).

Reyoki 05-14-2011 12:05 PM

When I had my interview, they said they had only a few positions left. I guess I should've worked on getting a summer job rather than my research papers x~x

*Comes in sucking on a can of spray-cheese*

Ashurato 05-14-2011 12:55 PM

Giggity.

I've never had spray cheese. Any good?

Kaguya 05-14-2011 12:56 PM

Why ae we talking about cheese in a can?
