I got Copperhead right off the bat when I started playing, and Lilith at least USED to be easy enough to get as a newbie, but yes, poisons are wonderful -- it means you can go after gem dragons. XD

DK went after metal dragons last night at rank 15 *u* POISONZ

his poisons aren't strong and it adds 3 poison orbs to the board..
