Sometimes I have to, like when he needs to go outside and go potty and he just sits in front of the door and stares out into the yard. I have to pick him up and set him on the first step before he gets the message.

Sometimes he does, when he actually does have to go out, but after he first wakes up he is obstinate. Like, he will go into his round bed and snake around the edges because he does not want to go out into the cold, or sometimes he is just being a plain ol' butt.
