Bah, I can't find a roleplay I like.
Why is everyone interested in romance or fighting? What about adventure? -sigh- I don't know what my schedule is anyways -pouts- More time for drawing! ^_^ |
maybe adventure is too hard? it is easier to write what you know and who does anything anymore?

Adventure is not always conducive to roleplaying as it involves fore planning as well as backstories which continually change the shape of the quest.
But that's the king of story I am used to. I write and as I write I think if why the characters have become what they are, and then I reveal backstory which then makes the opposing player's character react with their reasoning and their backstory comes to light etc. That and with the current social environment, natural disasters or outright war things get really interesting. Romance is the same broken record again and again. It's so boring. No depth to those stories at all if they do not have everything else I mentioned. Romance is a garnish, not a central plot @_@ |
true true, though i and another girl are actually going to make an adventure rp so lets hope you feel inclined to read, though honestly i would not mind a third person to play the plot if you know what i mean haha, it's more fun when there is a 'god' of the story pulling the chars around

That can be a two edged sword. Having someone else pull the strings cuts back on your power to develop your character's history as they control the world past present and continuing future.

but it also forces them out of theier comfort zones and leds them to revelations they may not have been able to have without an external forse demanding it

True, that element I've always liked in roleplaying. It really helps for writers block too.
That and if you have a particularly scheemy person as the role of the world then a lot of interesting things are bound to happen |
that and it's funny as hell when all is going smothly them everyone gets tripped over a completly unexpected and arbitrary murphy moment

does the 'world' get to play npcs? Or is that just for anyone?

i would hope so^^ when i mean 'world' i mean like the master of a tabletop, you cannot directly play but you command everyting else tht does not directly play(like npcs) *is getting excited* i wonder if rose woud be interested in doing it this way?

I've never played a tabletop game. I'm not a fan of dice choosing weather chance is the way to go or if there is a hand in the movements of the fictional world. It's just too... meh, empty using a dice.

being dice and using dice are two different things.
A friend tried to get me into 'real' role playing once @_@ I did not like the idea at all. Rolling the dice to choose how much damage or what happened- it seemed so impersonal |
i'm not a table top gamer either though but personally i like the fairness of it

I'm not a fan of being fair. I mean if it's a realistic story it shouldn't be fair. Now I understand the need to avoid uber characters. I've constantly run into them and have even made one or two in the past.
But even an uber character can be made realistic if played well [weaknesses come in more than one form] |

I find some of the best roleplays are in groups of 4 or less.
Best for schedules and synchronicity. Any more than that and you will have someone getting overshadowed or someone disappearing and someone else having to cover for their character or letting g the game drop |

Sometimes playing can be a form of expression instead of creation you know. Just a way to vent or feel strong emotion. So not all roleplaying has to be well played. In fact I also approve of one liners and beginner level stories.
Even every now and then I indulge in using my characters as an outlet instead of a work of art. But everything has it's place. Besides by the time one usually gets to the point of being able to play well they've up and got a real life job and have a lot less time to roleplay, thus removing the skill from the pool. |

I've not met anyone like that... well one person came close but I think he was actually delusional and though he was supposed to be the hero and everyone was just being mean to him. Still I've not seen need for such a thing personally as those I play with tend to be good sports. Of course you can't do that in an open roleplay but in a private one you can pick who can or can't be part of your world |

nerve wracking? Perhaps it can be when picking someone new. But if you search for friends you talk with often. Someone you have a natural rhythm with then just post that it's a 'friends roleplay' then it should be a lot more comfortable.
My problem is my friends all have a lot less time now. All our roleplays are on hold. including the Great Draithe Hunt -sigh- |
but knowing someone perfectly usable cannot be a part even if they wanted to because you are excluding them? isn't that hard

I've not met many like that actually. When I was an admin on a different roleplaying board a few years ago everyone played. And the whole board was dedicated to that one roleplaying world so people who clicked kinda moved off into different parts of that world.
I've never had to turn people away like that. Even now it's more like I've got ideas but I'm more looking to partner with one or two people rather than recruit. |
