@Den I wouldn't feel good reading it just because of the topic, but it being technical can a) make it more bearable to read and yet b) make it boring if the writer's skill and focus isn't on making it interesting to read. So far does it seem like it's going to be useful to you though?

@Worm I love webcomics, but the few I'm hung up on are premium ones on Lezhin. That service is soooo expensive :s-dead: I'm mostly reading manga nowadays. Also I usually only start a webcomic or manga if it's completed, and most webcomics I know are ongoing haha.

mdom 09-18-2017 01:53 AM

Are you diabetic, Den?

Worm 09-18-2017 01:32 PM

@Den: Oh dear, I agree with Sternum on that one. x'D I hope that it is going to good use and the information will be helpful for you and your doctor.

@Sternum: Geez, that's unfortunate that you have to pay for your favorite webcomics. ;n;
I'm the same way though with comics or manga. Its been so long since I've picked up a good manga. I want to start the Ajin series, since the anime was so good. <3

Though when I read books, I read a few at a time usually x'D
Right now I'm reading the Foundation series by Isaac Azimov (just finished the prelude, so I'm excited to start the next book x3), I'm reading The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks for my English class, and rereading the Picture of Dorian Grey. Also perusing a couple film/editing books, like The Lean Forward Moment and In the Blink of an Eye.

I'm reading something that is a great literary treasure (I speak facetiously).

It's 'Independence Day: War in The Desert'.

No, but I am considered obese. I've been working on losing weight, and I've lost just over 20 pounds since the start of the year. I'm going to be cutting back on the amount of soda/pop I drink (Swapping for home-brewed tea when I can), and watching the amount of sugar I consume, and once the weather cools off more and is consistently below 75F each day, I'll be walking more. and making myself go walking even in the winter.

daikokunyo 09-19-2017 06:21 AM

Worm: IKR... I'm going to have to put my webcomics indefinitely on hold because I just can't afford to read them at the moment.
When it comes to manga and anime, I used to enjoy a variety but now I can sit through only exclusively yaoi, shounen ai or fujoshi... I can't mark the moment the transition happened but I'm kinda doomed especially anime-wise, since there's a very small range of BL anime.

I'm fond of Isaac Asimov. Now I come to think of it, maybe he and Vandana Singh are the only sci-fi authors I read. I hardly read sci-fi otherwise.

@Den I'm glad your weight loss plan is focused on improving your health rather than rapid weight loss like too many people I know. I used to walk every day, but I've had to stop after coming to college because the campus is only an acre, no space to walk really, and going outside isn't an option because of serious safety issues.

Tam I am 09-19-2017 02:27 PM

Run in the halls.

Den, so you will soon be outrunning the zombies, huh?

Den 09-19-2017 06:40 PM

Yuuuup. Or at least out shuffling them.

mdom 09-19-2017 07:45 PM

Yay for losing some pounds!
And eating healthy!
I can't get rid of the sugarfree sodas <.<

Den 09-19-2017 07:56 PM

it'd be easier for me to eat healthy if I wasn't so particular about what I eat. a lot of the stuff my folks like to eat doesn't really appeal to me all that much.

mdom 09-19-2017 10:54 PM

Ah, a picky eater!
I like leaves, so eating salad is ok to me.

Den 09-19-2017 11:06 PM

Picky eater who has to be careful about certain foods.

mdom 09-19-2017 11:28 PM

Oh, you're allergic/intolerant :<

Tam I am 09-20-2017 03:00 PM

Does it count as picky when the person in charge of cooking believes that it's killing yourself to salt the pasta or rice?

mdom 09-20-2017 04:01 PM

My family is japanese, so we eat unsalted rice all the time xD

Tam I am 09-20-2017 04:34 PM

Without any seasoning whatsoever? Not even a little nori or soy?

It's weird what I can/can't eat. I can't have a lot of cream-based sauces, or ice cream, and milk is no-go unless it's fermented, like in yogurt or kefir or cheese, or it's a baking ingredient. I also have to watch with cooked meats that I don't get any obvious fatty bits, even if they taste the best (but I can have bacon, in small amounts). I can't have too much mayonnaise either.

As for picky... I grew up eating a Midwestern US diet. as I got older and exposed to more cuisine outside of what I knew, I began to prefer that to what I grew up eating. so now, I like exploring the culinary world. I still like some of the stuff I grew up eating, but we don't have the stuff to make it very often, and when we do, the base starch is almost always bland and unappealing because my mom won't salt the cooking water.

mdom 09-20-2017 06:23 PM

Nothing, no salt, no oil |D just rice.

Ah, i'm intolerant but I eat it anyway xDD the diarrhea is worth it to me.

Tam I am 09-21-2017 04:43 PM

mdom, I know you're proud of yourself, but saying things like that can make it seem like you're putting down people who don't choose to spend hours in the bathroom. This is not trying to be mean. It's just feedback. We love you anyhow.

mdom 09-21-2017 05:07 PM

Ah, no, i'm not proud of it <.<
the emoticon should be more like xD;;
It's more like 'I'm being a fat hungry person over thinking of my well being' situation' and I hope no one takes it as me advising it >.>

Worm 09-21-2017 06:19 PM

@Den: I'm so proud of you for going through this to take care of yourself! I'm sure it hasn't been easy. And I understand the Midwest diet, I live with my grandparents currently and that is exactly how they eat. Everything is so bland... Interestingly I grew up eating more... Carribean food. The other side of my family is Puerto Rican. And as I got older I got to see them less and less. So now it's pork chops and potatoes for dinner :/

@mdom: I would not be able to tolerate diarreah, but hey if it's worth it to you, then get at it xD I'm gluten intolerant. It makes me crampy and gross and gives me headaches and acne. But certain things are definitely worth the pain once in a while xD

Den 09-21-2017 08:58 PM

If I had access to enough rice, I'd happily eat it every day, for every meal. it's one of the few things I would happily eat regularly. when I do get rice, it's usually just a small bag, and that lasts maybe a day or two at best.

Tam I am 09-21-2017 09:24 PM

I'm also gluten intolerant. And it's made a bit worse by my even more severe intolerance for potato, because SO much gluten free stuff has potato in it! The wonderful non dairy cheese I got the other day had POTATO that I missed reading on the first go. And having my brain malfunction just is not worth the joy of tasty cheese. I'm derpy enough already. XD

Den 09-21-2017 10:03 PM

I'd rather have the derpy head, instead of poopsplosions if I eat something that doesn't agree with me.

Worm 09-21-2017 11:13 PM

@Den: no poopsplosions for me either :x that is just miserable
Also, I love rice as well <3

@Tam: omg that sounds really frustrating and difficult x.x

It's like a wall of glass between me and the world, with a buzz of low grade pain accompanying it.

mdom 09-22-2017 08:10 AM

I have a cousin that can't eat gluten as well, but he can eat cheese, so he eats 'pão de queijo', which is a cheesy bread we have here.

...That sounds a lot like what I deal with when I get a minor migraine. Which is still preferable to poopsplosions and MSG headaches.

Tam I am 09-22-2017 06:08 PM

Yeah, Den, but I have to depend on myself. So that level of brain malfunction isn't good.

Den 09-22-2017 06:29 PM

at least you don't have people going "You've got ANOTHER migraine?" every time you're down.

Tam I am 09-22-2017 07:04 PM

*hug*

Den 09-22-2017 07:19 PM

*subject change* Ancient Roman women had some wacky hairstyles going on.

Tam I am 09-22-2017 07:24 PM

So did Edwardian English women. Some were so complicated that wigs were sold for easy hair doing.

Den 09-22-2017 07:47 PM

Ancient Greek women, too... Historical hairstyles are seriously labor-intensive.

Tam I am 09-23-2017 09:18 PM

And the Greek and Roman ones took a couple slaves to fix them up.

Den 09-23-2017 09:46 PM

So did some American Civil War-era ladies.

Tam I am 09-23-2017 11:09 PM

Yeah. Were there crazy fancy dos then too?

Den 09-24-2017 12:19 AM

Not too terribly crazy, but a lot of women had lots of hair that would take more than one person to help style.

Tam I am 09-24-2017 03:25 PM

And they wore it in an area where the humidity can take off paint.

Very crazy.

Den 09-24-2017 08:13 PM

Hell, the humidity here can take paint off sometimes.
