I love cons! They are expensive - which is why I volunteer and usually get in for free.

Fey 08-18-2012 10:08 PM

yeeeeeah it's not the badge that is cost prohibative...it's the getting there. a good example is outside of the site fee for Dcon I'm pay out 1500$ for the plane ticket and hotel. The 90$ badge is a non-entity by comparison

Tohopekaliga 08-18-2012 10:23 PM

Yeah...the cost is definitely getting there and staying there, not the con itself.

Fey 08-18-2012 10:25 PM

thankfully I've got a lot of lovely peopel that will be staying with me, so the hotel will get a lot cheaper

Tohopekaliga 08-18-2012 10:29 PM

:) Well, that helps.

I'd love to go to more cons. Perhaps I will some time...and maybe be not lazy about my cosplays when I do them. :)

My first & only cosplay was of a Megaman character. I kinda...put things off a lot, so it wasn't really all that good, but, still fun.

Fauxreal 08-18-2012 10:48 PM

Well! Those things can really bite you in the butt. Oi. That plane ticket is silly!

Fey 08-18-2012 10:56 PM

well the upside to living in the middle of the continent I can take about the same amount of time to get to any con...the downside is it's all not HERE LOL so a plane ticket is required.

Tohopekaliga 08-18-2012 11:16 PM

:) There is one big con that happens in my city, I just...have missed it. I'm gonna try to go, but it's not 'til March.

Fauxreal 08-18-2012 11:18 PM

I should be buying a ticket to FL, but hopefully I don't have to. <3

Can I ask what con Toho?

Fey 08-18-2012 11:19 PM

why would you need a ticket to FL? or not, as the case may be?

Fauxreal 08-18-2012 11:20 PM

My bro needs help with his maybe divorce.

Fey 08-18-2012 11:26 PM

ew, not a good reason to need plane ticket. here's to hoping it's not a maybe but a 'not a divorce'

Fauxreal 08-18-2012 11:32 PM

True that. They just got married - maybe a year ago.

Fey 08-18-2012 11:33 PM

yikes, and already talking divorce? that's no good, no good at all

Fauxreal 08-18-2012 11:35 PM

Nope and they have a one year old. *smirk*

Fey 08-18-2012 11:41 PM

yikes. though, I will say if they aren't able to stay together amicably, they should never stay together just because of a child. it's okay to be two people that raise a child separate, but together.

Yeah. Megacon in Orlando. :)

Fey 08-19-2012 12:01 AM

I have heard really good things about megacon, it's one of the many I've not made it to

Tohopekaliga 08-19-2012 12:02 AM

I've never been either. Which is silly, since I live in Orlando, and the only con I've been to is in Baltimore. XD

Fauxreal 08-19-2012 12:08 AM

I used to volunteer at MegoCon! I used to live there - that is a huge big nice con. It has lots.

Tohopekaliga 08-19-2012 12:10 AM

Yeah, from what I've seen/read, it's big and cool. I was gonna go this year, but I thought it was in April, and so I completely missed it.

Fauxreal 08-19-2012 12:13 AM

Oh no! Just join their mailing list or something that way you can go!

Tohopekaliga 08-19-2012 12:17 AM

:P I'm not gonna miss it again.

Though, I dunno what kind of cosplay thing I wanna do this time. Probably the same general thing as I did at Otakon (Bass.exe), but...more complete.

Fey 08-19-2012 12:19 AM

do whatever you think will be fun! I plan to troll my local anime con in my newest disney costume just for the entertainment factor.

Fauxreal 08-19-2012 12:19 AM

There is so much there! I like the furry costumes, and I like joining two fandom costumes - like - Harry Potter and Pirates of the Caribbean, which I just saw at this past con. LOLZ!

Tohopekaliga 08-19-2012 12:24 AM

I like Megaman a lot. I am, sadly, not really in good enough shape with dressing as most of 'them. XD Workin' on it, buut...dedication. Hard to find.

This is what I wore at Otakon. :)

Fey 08-19-2012 12:32 AM

as I ranted in another thread, it's less about the shape your in and more about dressing the shape you're at. I'm not saying slap on spandex and call it good, I'm saying within reason adjust a costume to work for you. There's very little you can't wear, but there's a lot you shouldn't wear as is, even ifyou are a tiny, tiny person

Fauxreal 08-19-2012 12:36 AM

Well, I'm working on being more healthy and will that will come some weight loss which is nice. :)

Tohopekaliga 08-19-2012 12:39 AM

Well, yeah, there are lots of things that just plain don't work. :P

That particular character works for me. :)

Fey 08-19-2012 12:45 AM

healthy is always good, I should probably try that...at some point...maybe...

Fauxreal 08-19-2012 12:47 AM

Healthy is not easy. For realz.

Toho, I feel that vibe.

Tohopekaliga 08-19-2012 12:49 AM

I used to be in pretty good shape, but now I can't even run a mile. D: Every few months, I resolve to get in shape again, exercise a day, maybe two, then...back to not doing it. Today was another day #1. We'll see how it goes.

The "not good enough shape for megaman" statement is just a thing for me to think about to maybe hopefully keep up with getting in shape. :P

Fey 08-19-2012 12:49 AM

I'm too lazy to attempt healthy, I'm sticking with 'well not dead yet'

Fauxreal 08-19-2012 12:50 AM

Hey! That's a start!

lol. That works.

Makes me think of my grandfather. His thoughts on exercise are: "Exercise? Why should I exercise? Everybody I know who exercised is dead now."

He's got a bit of dark humor to him about his state of being very old...

Fey 08-19-2012 12:52 AM

it is, and not to sound alarmist...but nice streak through the thread faux ;)
and yeah, I could exercise and live longer...in theory, but those would be the years at the END when it's gonna suck anyway. I'd rather enjoy the now and let the suck end earlier

Tohopekaliga 08-19-2012 12:59 AM

:P But see, my grandfather's 96. He's never once exercised since he left the Navy after WWII. You're good.

I just like being fit. You know, if I can get myself to work at it.

Fey 08-19-2012 01:03 AM

well I can only hope that the bacon stat is true and I won't have to worry...though...really if every slice of bacon takes six seconds off your life I'm fairly certain my math is correct and I should have died about six years ago....

Tohopekaliga 08-19-2012 01:05 AM

XD Sounds like a lot of bacon!

Fauxreal 08-19-2012 01:06 AM

I'm dressed now! No worries! ;)
