Hermes: Yeah most people my age here hates him too.. I mean if I could have read his fairy tales by choice, I probably wouldn't hate him so much...
it's just that ones you're forced to read is always the depressing ones... >_> and even if I don't always want to read happy sappy endings, I don't want to get a depression just by reading a fairy tale...

I love Hans Christian Andersen.

I love all fairytales, and he's authored a great chunk of Western fairytales so I love him by default.

And I sort of love whatever I love. I mean, most people hate Shakespeare because of how he's been praised all their academic life, but I love Shakespeare. Same goes for Robert Frost, who I had to study all my freshman year of high school - although I don't love Robert Frost, I do like him quite a lot and appreciate him as a writer.

Well, it's fun to see the disney and other child-oriented versions, then read the actual stories, and be like "O___O"

What makes me hate him the most though (and that's not really him) is that the state have to use millions of money every year to celebrate his birthday, and afterwards they will always complain on how little money the state have.
I mean the guy died back in the end of the 19th century, he probably doesn't care anymore if you celebrate his birthday or not D<
And if you're gonna use all this money for his birthday don't go blaming students and the public workers afterwards =_=;
