Ultima 08-01-2012 05:42 PM

Hehe, I'm just kind of a Japanese-pronunciation nazi. They were saying "muh-DOUGH-kuh" whereas I say "mah-doh-kah" ..... I'm crazy, I know owo;

-gets runover by a wild choco-

No I feel the same way ulti
I think he did it that way to rustle some jimmies
and you let him rustle yours!

Crystallyn Whisper 08-01-2012 05:44 PM

I'm usually like that too, Ulti. But that was just for funsies. o wo

Asami 08-01-2012 05:46 PM

Hahaha I need to show that to my brother...

Ultima 08-01-2012 05:50 PM

That's one reason I rarely ever watch anything dubbed. I'll just sit there going "KI-yo!? His name is KYO. ... OMFG Her name is not KuhGOOruh it's Kagura omfg." I twitch every time they pronounce the names even slightly American-ized ewo;; ... Because I'm weird.

Asami 08-01-2012 05:52 PM

Hahah poor ulti //huggles

Crystallyn Whisper 08-01-2012 05:55 PM

*shudders* Never watching Fruits Basket dubbed... EVER. It's just not a good idea. DX They also pick really weird voices for the characters too. It's why I can't watch Elfen Lied dubbed.

Ultima 08-01-2012 05:57 PM

Don't even get me started on car names. Mitsubishi, Toyota, Honda, Hyundai, Nissan, Subaru, guh. HYUNDAI. In Japanese it would be pronounced "hyu-n-dah-ee" ... Here in 'murrka it is pronounced "hon-day" ..... I can not sit through a Hyundai commercial without twitching ewo;;

Crystallyn Whisper 08-01-2012 06:00 PM

HA!! I KNEW IT!!! >=D I thought Hyundai was supposed to be pronounced like that. I feels kinda smurt now. o wo

Ultima 08-01-2012 06:09 PM

Haha and words we've American-ized like "karaoke," "kamikaze," "karate," "ninja," "samurai," etc. None of them are pronounced the same as the Japanese pronunciation. Some are close, but the American "karaoke" just baffles me XD

Crystallyn Whisper 08-01-2012 06:12 PM

I first heard the correct(?) pronunciation of karaoke while playing Persona 3. My mind was blown that day. o Ao How can we get that so wrong?!

Ultima 08-01-2012 06:14 PM

WHY IS THE "A" PRONOUNCED "EE"?? XDD The "e" I can understand. But ... REALLY?? XD

Asami 08-01-2012 06:15 PM

//rolls around
I got egg salad sandwiches!

littl3chocobo 08-01-2012 06:15 PM

'kareoke' makes me laugh XD

Crystallyn Whisper 08-01-2012 06:17 PM

Because America can do whatever the hell it wants with vowels? o 3o;

So jelly of you. *ogles egg sammich*
