i'm usually too lazy to make cornbread from scratch, but when i make mine (scratch or from a mix) i add in a can of corn. gives it just a bit more "umph"

mmmmm champurrado. only had that from a mix too, but i expect it's super easy from scratch if you can find the right kind of rice xD

Adding in corn to cornbread works wonders XD
Just makes it a whole new thing really.

Yeah, we never added fresh corn. But Mom's stayed nice for a long time, if we kept it in a plastic food bag. Well, and no little tiny ninjas ran off with it and ate it.

I miss it, polenta, and grits.

growing up, my mom would add in a can of creamed corn. that stuff on its own is close to one of the nastiest thing on the shelf, but in cornbread...it made it so rich and moist. do they even make creamed corn anymore? anyway, regular corn is good, but there was just something about the nasty can of the creamed xD

I've had cornbread with corn in it... and I just can't. the difference in textures bugs the spit outta me (yay, autism-related food issues), and I can't stand canned corn anyway.

tsukiko 02-18-2018 08:23 PM

*nods* i fully understand the textural thing. it's why i'm such a picky eater myself. was just discussing this with my sister a couple days ago. i bought a bag of mini coconut chocolate candy things and gave her a few. she piped up "i thought you hated coconut or has your taste changed?" i still hate most coconut, can't stand shredded coconut, especially when it's ruining a perfectly delicious german chocolate cake with it's nasty stringy-ness or mucking up easter festivities with its dyed green nest of nasty xD and i'm not really a fan of fresh coconut or curls of it...but i like coconut milk, coconut water, coconut scented things, coconut candy when the coconut is minced super fine. it's the long strings of it that...blegh. i've always been that way, but she doesn't really pay attention to details like that. she just in the past heard "hate" and "coconut" and nothing else lol...

there are other foods that i get that way with too, so yeah as i said...i understand that whole texture thing xD

me, a non-cooking person, how can a cornbread not have corn? xD

Serra Britt 02-18-2018 09:32 PM

It has cornmeal, ground up corn basically.

Texture is super important too, so anyone who dismisses other's preference on it needs to rethink things.

As in actual kernels of corn, Mdom. I don't mind the cornmeal.

mdom 02-18-2018 10:30 PM

oooh right xD as I said, I don't really know much about cooking ^^ I knew it had corn, but not sure in which form.

Den 02-18-2018 11:09 PM

I'm weird about food textures...

mdom 02-18-2018 11:24 PM

My bff is like that too. He doesn't eat jello.

I don't eat canned corn, pears, peppers, raw onions (they have to be caramelized until they're golden brown), or tamago sushi.

Serra Britt 02-19-2018 12:03 AM

I don't like it when things are rubbery (looking at YOU, mushrooms) but for the most part I'm pretty chill about what I eat.

KittyBeary 02-19-2018 02:36 AM

This month is short. Which means my birthday's creeping up faster. ;u;

Ah, so you prolly wouldn't like octopus sushi, then. it tends to be pretty chewy.
