we had a few inches of snow yesterday, so that was fun. =)

Lawtan 02-11-2017 11:53 PM

That sounds fun!

...as this is a Public Domain and fanfiction based Library, I thought these two things would be appropriate:

Metropolitan Museum of Art

New York Public Library

trystan830 02-12-2017 01:37 AM

actually, it was kinda fun. I shoved some snow, and then I went to Starbuck's for my yarn night

Den 02-15-2017 09:03 PM

So I just tried calling Tam, and got a message about the call not being able to be completed/connected. I'm guessing her phone/internet provider is being a bunch of dummies over something stupid as pit. She's prolly frustrated enough to cuss, but at least I have enough info to go on to say she's more than likely safe.

mdom 02-15-2017 09:21 PM

Phew, I hope Tam is ok.
also, there's an event so I'm back xD

Lawtan 02-15-2017 10:22 PM

Welcome, mdom!

...have a date? Sorry, I meant a date.

Tam I am 02-15-2017 10:25 PM

Somehow the phone lines to my apartment got cut, and I've been without service since the third. I'm not back yet, but my brother had pity on me and brought to his place so that I could use his computer to tell my people what's going on.

Den, can you tell Mars?

*hugs* I miss you guys so much!

Lawtan 02-15-2017 10:27 PM

Tam's okay! YAY!
http://wallpaper-gallery.net/images/...-images-15.jpg

(Also, arting, writing, and working)

mdom 02-15-2017 10:28 PM

Yaaay, Tam is alive and ok!!

I don't like dates (the fruit), even though my sister swears it's almost like chocolate.

Lawtan 02-15-2017 10:31 PM

>.>
That was my food today...chocolate dates cranberries

mdom 02-15-2017 10:32 PM

Hopefully not the only thing you ate today... right!!!

Lawtan 02-15-2017 10:41 PM

Well, that and some pizza!

mdom 02-15-2017 10:48 PM

Well... pizza has calories, so I guess this time I'll forgive you.
But you better eat proper!!

Den 02-15-2017 11:57 PM

Guys! I have an update on Tam! She's safe, and unharmed. Here's the link to what happened: http://tam-i-am.dreamwidth.org/249164.html

trystan830 02-16-2017 12:01 AM

yaay that she's okay! =)

Funnily enough, it was Mars who alerted me. If I'd known you'd post here, I wouldn't have posted the link to your wall. lol I'm just glad you were able to get a message out.

mdom 02-16-2017 12:11 AM

She's also here a few posts earlier saying hi xD

ml1201 02-16-2017 12:20 AM

I'm just wondering why they cut her, and seemingly out of the blue...

Lawtan 02-17-2017 08:55 AM

*shrugs*

...on another note, this is awesome:

...the black circle is the Earth, if I am reading things correctly

Den 02-17-2017 05:03 PM

Is that the solar wind hitting Earth's magnetic field?

Potironette 02-17-2017 06:03 PM

I wonder what happened with the apartment D:?

*stares at pretty picture*
What is that? What's solar wind :o

mdom 02-18-2017 02:26 AM

I think Lawtan is showing what her powers can do to Earth.

Lawtan 02-18-2017 09:46 AM

>.>
Maybe the last one... xD

...but yeah, solar winds strike the magnetosphere and cause the auroras (northern lights)

mdom 02-18-2017 01:11 PM

It's a solar wind? :O

Man, my sister went to Iceland BUT SHE DIDN'T KNOW HOW TO USE THE CAMERA AND DIDN'T TAKE A SINGLE PIC OF THE NORTHERN LIGHTS!! I'm still baffled!!

Potironette 02-18-2017 07:28 PM

Aww, and the pictures would have been so pretty x'D!

I'd never known that was what caused auroras! I'd like to see an aurora in person someday :o

Den 02-18-2017 08:37 PM

So I became an aunt today.

Potironette 02-18-2017 10:45 PM

Aww they're so cute! I love their names <3

trystan830 02-18-2017 11:10 PM

awww, adorable, Den!

mdom 02-19-2017 03:30 AM

Awww, congrats, Den!!
Those cats are so fluffy and adorable!! I want to eat them!! I mean... pet them.

Kitties!! They're adorable!

mdom 02-20-2017 03:12 AM

I saw news about that gif you posted in another forum, Lawtan!
They said the sun can also fry our eletronics D:
don't do that sun
pls
just do the northern lights!!!

Lawtan 02-20-2017 08:17 AM

The chances of that are low...for the present. They increase over the next thousand/ten-thousand years, if I recall. Though there are some who believe some of the massive blackouts were caused by that. (I think it is just as likely that politically-motivated hackers got into the power grid regulations and overloaded it)

...The biggest risk is that when the Sun starts burning out all the Hydrogen, it will go to Helium, and at the current distance between the Earth and the Sun, the greater intensity of light will render Earth uninhabitable by complex life...then it can start expanding, possibly gobbling up Earth in the process...(But that's in a couple billion years)

Solutions:

Solar Sails - using the very solar winds you saw to push the Earth like a massive ball-like ship into a safer orbit. (We already use this to reduce fuel costs in space...just not with the Earth)

Dyson Sphere - a theoretical technological structure designed to capture and control all emissions of the Sun.

ml1201 02-20-2017 12:56 PM

KITTIES! I wouldn't mind being their auntie! XD

mdom 02-20-2017 02:25 PM

Changing orbits sounds risky. Better to invest in new technology.

ml1201 02-20-2017 03:11 PM

The problem would be finding a planet we could live on without having to use technology for everything and the creatures native to the planet. And lets not forget that planet's versions of 'natural disasters'.

Lawtan 02-20-2017 03:28 PM

...I hate to say that the chances of us finding a life-bearing planet before that issue...would be slim. Mainly because most earth-like planets are thousands or millions of lightyears away. (We'd be better off taking over the known solar system at present, I think)

The Dyson sphere has the issue of "has no real design yet" - but if Britain gets it on with sustainable fusion, that could change. :D

Potironette 02-20-2017 06:50 PM

*searches Dyson sphere on google*

I didn't imagine the phrase "taking over the solar system" would be quite so literal xD

mdom 02-21-2017 02:14 AM

Obviously the design has to be a sphere!
Ta-dah! mdom solving all of the world's problems!!!

ml1201 02-21-2017 08:09 PM

I think its pretty cool, not sure if encasing a star is a good idea though. ^^;

mdom 02-22-2017 02:24 AM

Encasing and absorbing its energy!
Mwahahahahah!
