I never finished 9. I got to the last disc, and then my save file went kablooey. :(
I've finished 1, 4, 5, 6, and 7. I've gotten most of the way through 2 but again lost my save file while in the endgame (I got lost in the whirlwind dungeon and set the game aside, and by the time I got back I forgot where my save file was) and I've started a fair way into 3 but wanted to finish 2 first. I've never played 8, 10, or anything after 10. |
Most of the ones after 10 are MMOs. >>;

I saw numbers, and then "Most of the ones after 10 are MMOs, and went "welp, we're talking about FF now."

I still think FF11 should have been Final Fantasy Online or somesuch instead of trying to wedge it into the main series where it clearly does not belong.

I've never played FFXI. What was up with it?

Simply put, it's an MMO. It's structured like an MMO. It has a plot built for an MMO. It has character development like an MMO.
In more words: The game has to assume that the only character present at all times is a single player character, that character is representative of the player instead of simply being a character controlled by the player, and that character is going to be interacting with thousands of other player characters proceeding through the same game. This means that there's no band of heroes traveling together. The hero gets no defining character arcs. The hero gets no relationships with any other persistent characters. Because it is a simple fact of necessity that the role of player character MUST be utterly generic, able to be filled by ANYONE. You have no legacy. You have no destiny. You have no family. You have no backstory. You have no friends. You don't even have your own personal enemies; the enemies you fight are all SOMEONE ELSE'S enemies and you're just the one stepping up to do the fighting. This is unlike every other main-series Final Fantasy game except for FF1 and FF3 -- and FF1 was a pioneer in the genre, so it has an excuse. And FF3 at least TRIES to do it with the generic nameless heroes; they at least have a nominal backstory and a hometown and get recognized on an individual basis by the NPCs. |
Well, I know FF11 was like an mmo, and I know that FF13 and FF14 are also mmos. I didn't count FF10-2 because it can be seen as a continuation of FF10, and I know FF12 is not an MMO. So that makes FF11, FF13 and FF14 mmos with FF12 being the exception.

FF14 looked fun from the video's i've seen. DK wants to play it >x<
|
Vell says its good, though I'm picky about mmos. ^^;
|
ahh halloween events are ending so i need to get on dragomon and try it ._. my friend said it was fun
|
None of the three FF13 games are multiplayer. 11 and 14 are the only MMOs.

Huh, someone had told me it was...Ah well, I'm gullible anyways, so yeah. ^^;
