I know a dude who wears glasses and at least wears two sets of goggles - At least I'm not that ridiculousness!
That...that is just crazy pants! Not gonna lie though, soooo tempted to wear a monocle. cause monocles are cool. Also helps that I own like four already.
I would like to be a sir
missing a few things to be a sir...Y chromosome would be first on the list.......
I'm a tomboy/hermaphrodite sir
Mature |
Er, still, by definition a Sir is a male of the species, tomboys while are indeed more male-esque are not, in fact, male.
I'm a sir on the inside
I love thrift stores, three sets of shoulder pads for three dollars? plus a slew of bias tape? why thank you, Shadowcat appreciates your donation. Oh 80s comic costumes, your shoulderpaddedness amuses me.

:3 Hello hello. This looks like a fun thread, I don't have a lot of friends that go to con's anymore. I don't have that much con experience, tho' I'm thinking (if I have the money which it's looking like I won't. This'll be the first year in 3 years I won't be going) to A-kon in June. I think pre-reg has already closed but I'd have to double check. Last year I did a Jessica Rabbit cosplay but never really made it out of the hotel room. I tried to do a female- David Tennant Doctor but we couldn't quite find all the right materials. And I did a home spun version of the Red Queen once that was a pain.
Also would like to go to Supernatural Con that's coming up in September, but I don't know if people really cosplay for that. |
Welcome HH! As to Supernatural, LOL, my roommate cosplays as John Winchester(I think I spelled the last name right) and I've been drafted into being a demon or ghost at times(yay covered in fake blood). And if Nikko was around he'd be most entertained, he was roger rabbit last year for a local sci fi con.
Most of my friends either were into cons before I met them or slowly drafted into going to them with me over the years. I've not been to Akon, it sounds fun! It may have to be one of my out of state cons next year or the year after. Sadly I can only afford one each year. |
I am only going to one con, once again, this year, too, because of lack of money.
I am just going to commute to the local SF con. |
:] Thank you!
Haha, I'd like to see a John Winchester. The only cosplay's I've seen is a few of Castiel which I only recognize because of the trench coat. I wish I'd have someone to cosplay with me! Instead I carried around a small white rabbit. I don't spend money on much else, that and since it's so close to home (I live about 20 minutes/30 minutes from Dallas) and we usually pool money together in a big group so it helps make the costs easier. A-kon feels a lot like going home every year tho'. All the buddies I used to go with tho' have either lost interest or gone, few just left for the military/navy so there went that. Haha. I'd really like to go to a bigger convention at some point, and out of state. Actually just out of state would be great. I just don't know much about the out of state ones other than a few that I catch pannel clips for. |
Well i know im going to Otakon this year its over on the east coast owo i gotta get my two cosplays ready
I'll be hitting Dragoncon in Atalanta this August, I'm super excited. I need to get all my costumes finished off, though I'm sorely tempted to just cull from my closet some I've already finished.
I tend to travel in groups too to even local cons, it makes it more fun. It's hard to enjoy a convention by yourself. You either need to go and make friends, or drag some of yours along for the ride. |
I could never really find anyone to go to conventions with.
that's sad...maybe it's time to make friends with people already at the con? you know they'll be willing to do cons again!
I've heard good things about Otakon and Dragoncon, a lot of the best pannel vids come from there.
ASG; Aaaw, that's a shame. I'd feel awkward going on my own too tho'. It's pretty easy to find people tho'. Every place I've gone is very friendly, lots of hugs from strangers and getting invited to random places with people. I do reccomend at least 2 people going, 'cause some people use cons to be creepers so you always want someone who has your back. :] |
I'm pretty excited for Dcon...mostly cause the word is Stan Lee likes to photobomb the Marvel gathering..... Hence why my friend's that are going will have access to my bail money should I get in trouble LOL
Hahaha, always good to be prepared.
I have met everyone I've wanted to meet except Stan Lee, Patrick Stewart and Chris Clarmont. Since the likelyhood of meeting the two later is slim I'm excited to maybe meet the former.
There are a few people I'd like to meet. I wish the cons I'd gone to had a more personal, more of a meet and greet type of thing.
I have an odd tendency to get in the elevator with people...I've met Peter Mayhew a few times, always in elevators at different cons.
It is fun getting to talk to authors and actors at cons.
some of them are hillarious! Some, some are jerk, I don't recall his last name, but this one VA named Spike makes me want to jab him in the neck.
I need to meet Misha Collins. And Mark Sheppard and Sebastian... aw hell, I forgot his last name. D: Those guys are comedic genius together. I think those are the people I'd kill to sit down and have a few drinks with or something.
I hate it when they're kinda jerks and stand offish, like... they CAN say no to coming to the con. |
yeah, and if you're going to hate on your fans you're just killing your career, but they dont' seem to think of that.
OH, and my absolute fav, Greg Ayres(not sure I spelled that right) I love him so much, he and his brother Chris. OwO |
I think some of them feel like they're "too good" for cons or something.
I feel like I've seen that name before but I don't know what all he's been in. |
Lessee, Greg was The Pope in Trinity Blood, Goku in Saiyuki, one of the twins in OHSHC(I never remember which), and a LOT of others.
o: Wow, a lot of those are def. favorites! I've met a few of the guys from FMA that were fun to talk to. Vic ... however you spell that last name is generally a really good sport.
.......>.>.....I don't like Vic. When he was out here last he was sorta a huge jerk to the FMA group, he spent most of the time making fun of 'em.
D: Aaaw. Laame. Tho' the last con vid I saw of him was one of the first he'd gone to.
he's apparently really nice at Sakuracon...anywhere else it's sorta hit or miss.
Huh, I wonder why that is. That kinda sucks. Maybe it's just like a bad day thing? Tho' that has to suck for the fans. It's awkward when they're mean.
well, denver is pretty good at telling people when we don't approve of it.
Oh? How's that? Usually fans are very timid.
LMAO no, we're blunt up at a mile high apparently. we've never had rude guests back, and we've no issues telling them why.
Well that's damn good. :] More cons should take example from that because I think cons would get better visitor circulation. Less waste of money dissapointment.
well, it's good in a way, but it bites us in the butt. the main anime con out here is sorta sucktastic in that it's run by people that in essence hate it's own attendees(seriously, the head chick, doesn't like anime, random). We are slowly nurturing a new con, but it's a slow process, but we're stuck with them for a while.
Wow, how does? I'm sure it's not they're rolling in money, the organizers and all that, most of it's volunteer work. Why would you do something so iconic and very close knit group when you can't even stand it? She needs a new job. It's a shame that that's ruining the experience.
oh trust me, they're making bank on us. they do run the whole thing on volunteer work, but they're bringing in more and more people every year(until they hit their cap), so it's not like their expenses are going up, but the money coming in, is. But it'll end eventually, we'll get the other one going strong and people will go to an event that actually welcomes them, rather than their money.
