I lost my steeper which made me sad as i now have to wait till it boils and just put it though a cup strainer i have for soups and such , but its alright with me its workable, i wish that i could get some more tea as it would really make my day a lot better seeing as Life took a dump on me today

Quiet Man Cometh 11-05-2012 02:22 AM

That's what I always do. I make tea by the cup but I'm always forgetting about it. I have several mini tea pots but I over steep and it's not good for my stomach so I'm trying to find means of making tea without the chance of overs steeping it since I waste so much that way.

Fauxreal 11-15-2012 04:11 PM

*runs though* COFFFFEEEEEEEE *runs back out*

Quiet Man Cometh 11-17-2012 12:20 AM

I made coffee yesterday. I'm not too good at it without a machine.

Tears 11-20-2012 08:50 AM

Tea~ Is beautiful. P:

I love tea. Goji berry tea, mint tea, dates tea, chamomile, roobois (?) tea, lemon tea, ginger tea... So many teas. My favorite drink.

I'm also somewhat a coffee person. I drink coffee sometimes and enjoy it, but it's not a regular thing.

Quiet Man Cometh 11-20-2012 08:58 AM

Me too, with the coffee that is.

And can't say I've ever seen -or heard of- dates tea before. Date flavoured tea? As in the fruit?

Tears 11-20-2012 09:22 AM

That's right, date flavored tea. though my mother makes it by soaking actual dates in there.

Quiet Man Cometh 11-20-2012 09:23 AM

Well, that's pretty much the basics behind tea. I have tea with dried mangoes that I love, and one with blood orange. I guess other stuff just hasn't occurred to me. I'm not the largest fan of dates though.

Daiasita 11-20-2012 03:09 PM

I really love tea, my favourite tea are green tea and ginger tea. I drink tea after lunch or after dinner and sometimes I tend to drink a lot of tea when I finished eating at the restaurant.

Echo-chan713 11-20-2012 05:06 PM

To me if i have tea I have to sweeten it with a ton of sugar

Quiet Man Cometh 11-21-2012 01:31 AM

I always have tea when we go out to eat. I have to watch the strength now though, so I usually get a pot and then keep adding hot water to it so eventually it's just tea flavoured milk and sugar, but I like that too. :)

I carry tea in my purse sometimes, just in case I feel like something a restaurant doesn't have, or if I want to save money.

I don't like eating dates, but they're okay in tea and honey.

Toki 11-21-2012 12:56 PM

bro i can yammer on 5ever about tea now

my favourite kinds of teas are gently-flavoured ones, i can't drink it if it's been steeping too long. i love white tea with agave syrup, but i also like green tea with ginseng and honey.

my favourite mixed teas are passion and zen by tazo and oregon chai brand for chai lattes

i drink tea every day, and i try to drink different flavours of it. my family has an entire cabinet dedicated to tea and we like to mix our own leaves sometimes for things like respiratory health, soothing sore throats, and even promoting restful sleep and vivid dreams.

tea is just really great ok

Quiet Man Cometh 11-21-2012 12:59 PM

Heh. This is the tea yammering place. ;)

I know of Tazo teas. I've only tried "Awake." I think my sister might have some agave syrup on hand to try. It would be the sort of thing she'd have around. I have some white tea but it's all flavoured, but I find even flavoured white tea isn't strong to begin with. I think I have a Tazo sort of berry white.

Kaunisenkeli 11-23-2012 11:05 PM

Good to find some fellow tea fiends here. :D

I grew up drinking tea. When I'm visiting my parents, my mom and I can finish a gallon of iced tea in about 2 hours. I'll drink any type of tea, except sweet tea (my iced tea can't have any sweetener at all). Although, if a tea's name contains the word Chai somewhere, that tea gets preferential treatment. owo

My favorite tea brand is Zhena's Gypsy Tea, but some friends on another site recently pointed me in the direction of several others that I'm going to have to try.

Quiet Man Cometh 11-24-2012 02:29 AM

Cool. :). I was actually drinking coffee before I was drinking tea because I learned to make that first. I didn't start drinking tea until my mom tried taking me to an herbalist to see if it would help my health. I started with peppermint tea since I wasn't allowed things like soda pop and such anymore. Oh deprived childhood! But it was only for a couple weeks or so.

I started my little tea ritual complete with small, one person pot, sugar bowl, creamer, little spoon and cup on my mom's old aluminium tray. I don't remember when I started with "proper" tea. I do remember my mom always cleaning dirt or such off my face with a napkin dipped in her (weak and plain) tea. I habit I seem to have picked up with the odd greasy or sticky spot. Seems to work. :)

Shohnightingale 12-08-2012 03:26 PM

Hello,
I have no idea what 'Proper' tea is,
But I have found that I enjoy a varied amount of Tea and Coffee, Sometimes a mixture of both in the case of the Green Tea Frappe from Starbucks with a shot of espresso and chocolate cause then it tastes like heaven.
Lately though I have found myself in the spiced tea realm with lots of cinnamon and cloves added with orange or tangerine pieces

Quiet Man Cometh 12-08-2012 03:32 PM

Sounds like you be a good candidate for Chai tea. I like the chai tea lattes you can get at most coffee places like Starbucks or Second Cup.

"Proper" tea, I think is tea made from the actual tea plant, so most herbal teas and tea made from different plants are out, but that hardly matters for this thread, and I don't bother with the idea when I have my annual tea party on my birthday. I just remember one guy at a store where I was looking for Rooibos tea saying that they didn't carry it because it was technically a herbal tea and not real! Hoity toity tea store, that.

I'm having some Assam tea that I bought a while ago. I nice change from my usual morning Red Rose.

Kaunisenkeli 12-08-2012 06:39 PM

Snobby tea store. D:
I personally like some herbal teas (although some I've tried have made me gag). At present, I'm really loving the Chocolate Chai by Zhena's Gypsy Tea. :)

Shohnightingale 12-08-2012 08:43 PM

Assam tea, I like mine with a splash of milk and honey in the mornings with fruit topped oatmeal and toast, makes for a filling breakfast

I can't wait till February 9th, it will be my birthday and I get to have my annual Loli tea party with my friends at the local tea-house. They are very nice and have a wide varieties of teas and small meals.

I have had one of those Chai tea latte's from the Kurige coffee machine One serves, they are pretty good with a dash of milk in them to cut out the heat of the steam

Quiet Man Cometh 12-09-2012 09:40 PM

Cool. My brother has a Tassimo, which is alright but we haven't really used it for tea.

I usually have just sugar over honey but I've taken to using either rock suger or Taico brand sugar that actually a slight molassesy taste to it. I pretty much don't white sugar anymore unless it's all I can get.

Monsieur Hatter 01-31-2013 07:12 AM

"This is my kind of thread~, I just adore tea~. ❤", Hatter grinned, "Does any one have suggestions for a nice sweet tea?".

Quiet Man Cometh 01-31-2013 10:41 PM

By "sweet" do you mean with sugar or sweet in it's regular taste?

My choice would be DavidsTea "Glitter and Gold" I think it's called. It's a black tea with cloves, orange, and vanilla I think. It also has gold and silver sugar balls in it that give it a shimmery appearance in the cup. It's one of my favourites, though I add a little bit of rock sugar (based on sugar beets so it adds some sweetness without sugar "taste") and milk.

Greed 02-01-2013 01:13 AM

My favourite tea is Darjeeling made by Twinning. Followed by Earl Grey, English Breakfast and Irish Breakfast. <3 Sometimes I take my tea with milk, but most of the time I don't, I find it's just easier to make with just water, and i'm always too lazy to do otherwise.

"I meant sweet with its regular taste.", Hatter smiled, "Merci, I will be sure to look for that blend. It sounds delightful.".

Irish Breakfast is definitely on my list of favourite teas, and I think I get Twinnings too. There's a mixed box with Lady Grey, Real Grey, Irish Breakfast, and English Breakfast. Not as fond of English Breakfast but I like the other three.

Oh, and for another sweet tea, I buy a Mango black tea from Pekoe that I also among my favourites. Very tasty. :)

Monsieur Hatter 02-02-2013 02:16 AM

"Oui, fruit blend teas are always a nice sweet trip. Why I adore them so much.", Hatter chuckled, "Though I do not think I have tried that blend. I usually am a sucker for berry blends.".

"Merci for all the suggestions, I am loveing this thread.", he smiled.

Ooh that sounds amazing, where did you pick that mixed box up at? I've not tried Lady Grey or Real Grey before. How do they compare to other teas?

Mmm. Mango. I always enjoy a good sweet tea. :)

Have you tried rose blend tea? It's wonderful and almost berry-like.

Monsieur Hatter 02-02-2013 05:11 PM

"Rose blend? No, I am sad to say I have not. Sounds delightful however.", Hatter smiled, "Know of any good companies that brew it? I would love to try some.".

Quiet Man Cometh 02-02-2013 07:14 PM

Sorry, that should have been "Earl Grey." It's a blue box in with the normal tea selection at supermarkets that sell Twinnings, so it's not a specialty thing really. It's a standard sized box, comes with 5 of each tea I think?

I have a Rose tea I got a while ago. Rose Congu or something similar. Another black tea. I do with the rose was stronger though. It's not that sweet but I think that's because of the type of tea it is. It's not an Assam tea, which are my favourites.

Maro 02-06-2013 01:38 PM

Ahn, I love tea! I've tried so many different kinds, from herbal to black and back again.

Quiet Man Cometh 02-09-2013 01:19 AM

I bought another Assam tea yesterday, as well as some Sambuca Rooibos, (black tea with aniseed oil) and some dried ginger root and spearmint to mix and see if it helps my stomach any. Medication is only doing so much right now so I'm looking into natural remedies.

Monstah 02-17-2013 07:59 AM

I prefer rose tea :) it's hard to find, but I love it!
Ofcourse I can't drink my tea without sugar, I'm such a sweettooth :).

Jurinjo 02-17-2013 12:13 PM

I love black and herbal teas depending on my mood. I usually dump the sugar in for black and add barely any for the herbal stuff. Chai is my favorite black tea and Peppermint is my favorite herbal one...then there's Chamomilie that goes perfectly with a spoonful of honey <3

Last week I actually had a nice conversation with a tea lover. I learned a few things and we talked perhaps a little too much since I was actually at work xD;

Quiet Man Cometh 10-26-2013 02:35 AM

Well I've been gone a while, but working my way back. On the tea front I finally got around to plugging in my automatic tea steeping machine that I got for Christmas some years ago. It works well, and since the leaves don't sit in the water the whole time, my tea doesn't get all nasty and bitter when I inevitably forget about it.

I'm still trying to track down some Asaam Banapsaty. I think I'm going to have to go downtown to try and dig some up.

Yokuutsu 10-29-2013 12:41 AM

I want this tea maker I saw at Wal-Mart. You use bags instead of course, but the one sucky thing is that they have special pitchers....so part of me is thinking that a coffee maker would do just as well XD

Quiet Man Cometh 10-30-2013 11:22 PM

I've used a hotel coffee maker to make tea once, since they did provide the bags but there was no other means of getting hot water. The tea maker I have can use either bags or loose leaf. As long as hot water gets to the tea, it's all the same really. ;)

Quiet Man Cometh 11-08-2013 09:07 PM

I found a DavidsTea in the mall ten minutes from my house! Hooray! I can get my Banapsaty again!

Went to the city's inaugural Tea Festival last week. It was packed, and the crowd was overall younger than I thought. I consumed copious amounts of green tea and collected a pile of pamphlets, as well as coupons for free cups of tea at DavidsTea ;). T'was fun. :). Next time though, I'll make sure to bring a little china cup since tea does not go well with paper.

littl3chocobo 11-08-2013 09:11 PM

tea festival?

Quiet Man Cometh 11-08-2013 09:34 PM

Yup. It wasn't much, just a bunch of tables set up with tea tasting and special deals. There were demonstrations of various tea ceremonies but I didn't get to see any of those. I expect there might be more stuff next year given how great the interest was this year. They had to stop selling ticket at the door because of how many people were coming in with tickets from Groupon and the like.
