No, I'd never heard of it. Though I often do similar things with my characters. Including making a race of tiny dwarf humans with the minds of toddlers to protest the breeding of small dogs with mashed faces.

Lawtan 09-29-2016 10:37 AM

It's collected from many authors by Bruce Coville.
Sort of been thinking about it because it handles things like emotions and relationships via mythical creatures in a way that is...human. I sort of forgot that folk used to write like that.

That, realizing that I can actually reach certain goals despite my state's laws, and this message which really applies to the Southeastern United States and its culture of familial abuse/violence...realizing that several of my personal hangups and my extreme morbidity was sort of like a bad coping mechanism for depression...and having a meltdown over grief...sort of helped...

Message below:
"They simply have no desire to worsen the suffering of others. I think they know by now that pain is a basic part of this world. They simply don't wish to participate in it...because if there is such a thing as going past the point of no return...then, if the world ever reaches that point, will it too be unable to go back? I refuse to believe in that kind of world."

...and on a lighter note, Euglena are cute little microscopic organisms. They are the green embodiment of this picture

*big hug for Law* Vroom vroom!

It's a Southern thing is it? Huh. My dad came from the Southern US. That explains some stuff.

But yeah. I use my giant robots and inhuman looking aliens all the time to write like that. They feel safer to me.

Sort of. It's a mess.

Tam I am 09-29-2016 08:26 PM

*hug*

On another note, I think I've finally started the process that will eventually get me out of this bedbug hotel.

mdom 09-30-2016 01:07 AM

Yaaay, go Tam!!

Tam I am 09-30-2016 01:21 AM

LOL It's only taken me years.

I commented in a thread started by someone with the same name as you over on another forum.

Lawtan 09-30-2016 11:37 PM

*Cheers for Tam*

Tam I am 10-01-2016 01:59 PM

This avatar dressup is directly related to my last one. Both illustrate phases in my life.

Two places, along with Facebook, that I only go to if dragged kicking and screaming.

Okay. If I were kicking and screaming there would be few people who could drag that much weight. *cackle*

I'd just bodily shove you along. lol

I'm probably go to sleep soon though... :/

Lawtan 10-01-2016 10:13 PM

*Hugs the Den and offers some blankets and warm milk*

Hmm...I use Instagram for image reference for art...tumblr is ~60% avoid (but I have found useful stuff there...sometimes...like a bread page I can't find anymore. It turned your mouse into a loaf of bread, and clicking sliced the bread loaf)

But social platforms, once they have a large number of folk, become negative unless you focus on your own little areas.

mdom 10-01-2016 10:25 PM

That was a beautiful avatar!
instagram I follow my friends only xD same for tumblr. I like to stal- I mean, know what they're up to, comment on a status to let them know I want them well, that kind of stuff. But I never post anything |D

Tam I am 10-01-2016 11:28 PM

I don't think I'd shove too easily, either. XD

Okay. I have to tell the truth. I've never been anywhere near 'Instagram'. I know very little about it. But 'Tumblr'... yeah. Right up there with 'Facebook' for me. And I think it chokes my computer. Poor computer!

Thanks.

Never underestimate someone who can bodily shove a grown man who has ~4 inches of height and ~10 pounds of weight on me. lol I plant my feet and push hard with whatever hip is closest, and I've been able to push my dad off-balance before (That happened when I was feeling blech. Just imagine what I could do now!).

IIRC, I've got about 3 inches of height on you, and a fair bit of mass as well. Plus, I'm just as stubborn as you, lady. lol

Glitch 10-02-2016 07:48 PM

just stopping by to say luff you guys!!! <3

Tam I am 10-03-2016 12:28 AM

XD It would be hard to set your hip against me if I'm laying on the floor kicking and screaming! :p-grin:

Tam I am 10-05-2016 01:20 PM

*shiver* Okay. No laying on the floor around Den. Just go hide instead.

Ugh. My mind was clear this morning till some neighbour started smoking pot.

THAT WON'T SAVE YOU! XD *hug*

and ugh. that stuff... *shakes head* I hope they get in trouble for it.

Tam I am 10-06-2016 03:05 PM

Highly unlikely they'd get in trouble. They might even have a license for it.

Today, I got stuff done.

A friend sent me a funny.

Lawtan 10-11-2016 12:13 PM

Hope to be back/okay next weekend. :D
Been hectic these past few weeks.

Tam I am 10-11-2016 10:52 PM

I hear you on the hectic, Law. *hug*

mdom 10-16-2016 07:29 AM

Lawtan 10-16-2016 09:51 AM

<Cue Frankenstein crying "It's Alive! IT'S ALIVE!">

And we've all been a bit off lately. Hope to change that soon...

Tam I am 10-16-2016 02:28 PM

I've been really missing my library. But I've been trying to keep the books dusted. That one shelf... well, I think it was trying to help.

mdon, you're having trouble with your shoulder?

Lawtan 10-18-2016 04:18 AM

-Hears a commercial for a new X-box-

"Get the new X-box 1-Ass!"

...I swear that better have a donkey picture on the side.

Tam I am 10-18-2016 04:46 PM

LMBO! I'm reminded of my one RP character who calls people jackasses. Somedays I just don't feel like writing it, and put *boy donkey*.

SparX 10-20-2016 06:16 AM

.... I keep getting reminded that I really need to invest in shelves for all my books before my cats destroy them.....

Do you guys think it would be better to diy or get myself some nice bookcases?

Lawtan 10-20-2016 08:44 AM

I would say DIY, but with treated/paint coated wood. That is assuming you can get the right dimensions or have a saw.
(If only because straight-out buying stuff tends to never fit as well and are hard to move)

SparX 10-20-2016 11:51 AM

I was thinking of "floating" shelves on the wall personally, because sometimes bookcases tend to just.... get in the way xD
Now to figure out where in my room and living room =D

Lawtan 10-20-2016 11:55 AM

Oh, you'll likely need hinges/support, then.

SparX 10-20-2016 12:15 PM

!!!!!!!!!
I think they have kits for this.
I am pretty clumsy so I also wanted to avoid the brackets, since the ones I can reach I tend to hit my head on XD
But, Now I worry my drywall may not be able to support them.....
I gotta plan out and mark my studs if you know what I mean
;D

Lawtan 10-20-2016 12:19 PM

Affirmative! *Salutes*
Studs away!...wait...
*comedic flop/backflip at the realization*

trystan830 10-20-2016 02:06 PM

Lawtan 10-20-2016 05:38 PM
