Ah so, (ML prolly saw my blog post on Uni5) My work place where I work off my foodstamps. Before they've always told us 'I don't care when you come in, as long as you do come in and get your hours done'

well because no one went in today (my ride couldn't cause she was sick so that means i couldn't even though we planned to) our supervisor is starting to say we have to follow the schedules that welfare sends us. It made me laugh because mine says I don't start till the 16th xD (there was one month where all the schedules were set for the end of the month -knows this cause she helped pam organize shiz a few times when pam was in charge-)

Cait is gonna lose a lot of volunteers. If Nicoles schedule doesn't cover my own schedule, i won't have a ride there for I am gonna be calling welfare, complaining about mold and how we've been treated as of late, AND complaining about the changes. Cause welfare doesn't really care when you go in either.. as long as the hours are done.

Cait is treating us like slaves or something who are supposed to show up every single day. =/ It's the first week of the month.. foodstamps come out this week.. bills.. and other shit... of course people aren't gonna show. a lot of us wait till the end of the month to show anyway =.= GET USE TO IT CAIT!

I have weak wrists so i had mom take the screws out.. well the one screw is stuck in there .. she and the neighbor stripped it because it wouldn't come out =o=

so I pried open the case a bit to see.. and from the looks of it, yes the head is either stuck or needs replaced =o=

o-o the top plate of the hard drive has circles on it! I don't think my manga is salvageable xD the head needs replaced completely. it's missing the reader doodad..

Thing has 3 plates *Q* i wanna take the WHOLE thing apart but instead I think i might try and exchange the head to see if I can salvage anything. -doubtful-

the scratches must be from when it was one of those "My Book" external drives and the cats kept knocking it over =o=, i heard they get scratched that way.

I doubt the head to my 40GB WD hard drive would be compatible wish i kept the other 250GB drive i had... spare parts are needed right now >x< grrr

edit: mom is gonna let me 'bid' on some hard drives. the serial codes match from the looks of things so I might be able to get spare parts + some hard drives to work with until we can afford a brand new one ouo

I will restate my case on the hard drive. Don't do it, the read/write needle is super sensitive. Having it off by the slightest nanometer can cause it to not work at all. Hence if you are scraping a HD your break it and destroy the needle, the needle can't be fixed bc of the way its made.

the needle is on the head, the head can be replaced. The plates on the other hand are where the data is stored. if they are scratched, then the hard drive is no good. only good for parts.

from the looks of it the arm that reads the plates, is missing this tiny square thing. when that square thing came off it must have caused the scratches on the plates before disappearing completely. So the head is what needs replaced.

-taking apart an already doomed hard drive isn't gonna hurt anything. now if it were a brand new hard drive then yea.. i'm not gonna mess with it. but since its a hard drive that isn't working, i'm gonna dissect the bastard until i know EVERYTHING *u* -

I wouldn't be able to see the codes on the hard drive on amazon. on there a 250GB hard drive is just that.

@ML - On Ebay they are required to post a picture of the actual thing they are selling -they aren't supposed to grab the photo off the net- so I can just take a look at the stickers on the drives from those photo's and choose =)

Amazon is very different than ebay in many ways.

if you search for Western Digital 25GB hard drive, you'll get the few different models that WD made, i could ask for a particular model and buy 5 of that same model and yet the codes and parts and stuff be very different. There is the model number, then you have the date, and then you have the DCM, the pin numbers, the patent numbers. Each one corasponds to the different parts and firmwhere and softwhere that is in/on the hard drive.

So even if I looked up, say the 250GB My Book external Hard drive and bought 2. The hard drives inside have the highest possibility of being made in 2 separate counties, and have different pins and dcms and stuff. Amazon is a place where you go and buy hard drives because you need to store stuff. if you use amazon for parts, its gonna be like playing russian roulette. The only thing the sellers will post is the model number. The DCM and other important things you'd need for part hunting is never included. Ebay you have a better chance at getting what you need.


So! I was bored and started looking for songs on youtube. I felt in an 80's mood (i was born in the 90s but i like some 80's music) and came across Twisted Sisters version of "leader of the pack" I always liked that song and their version of it soo.. didn't care for the music video though xD

But I googled their wikipedia page and saw that back in the 80's one of their songs was deemed violent. I looked up the music video and was questioning it. How is this violent. I was expecting someone being beat up and gutted and shit.. the only thing that happened was a guy kept getting magically tossed out of a window or through a wall by the soundwaves of a guitar

This is why I love hard drives. -and why pedo's should hate hard drives- Even if you delete something off of it, it in a way still remains there and can be brought back using special programs.
