i know that's only a sketch, but look at the bottom corner of the mad hatter and march hare? see what i mean about "companions"? i mean i know the whole thing looks like shit, but those 2 especially do!

Just think about how much harder it is to add details when something is smaller. That might make it SEEM like it looks bad when it's really just missing the detail you might be used to.

tsukiko 08-05-2017 09:45 PM

or it might just be bad :P

i did think these guys came out good, even though it's hand-drawn and colored via colored pencils....

Let me tell you what I've learned on my journey to become an artist...our own art ALWAYS looks bad to ourselves XD

And I really wish my tablet would work properly without having to restart the driver every single time I wanted to use it >_<

tsukiko 08-05-2017 10:00 PM

oh mine does that too. drives me nuts!

this one i liked...the phoenix xD the avi looks wonky

Serra Britt 08-05-2017 10:06 PM

You have such lovely art ^_^

I still think of mine as pretty flat and unrefined, but I'm working on it.

tsukiko 08-05-2017 10:10 PM

awww....i think yours is pretty too. i will say tablets make artists' lives much more easy.

this is the avi i did right before starting on yours. i think this one came out the best so far @___@ (though it was difficult not to put hair on it xD and the rainbow stripes were a new thing for me. it was fun layering on the colors)

The only advice I can give y'all is keep drawing. Keep practicing the shit that pisses you off the most (For me, it's hands and proportions and not making my male characters look too girly or pretty). Keep drawing, until you want to light your sketchpad on fire, take a break for a bit, then come back and keep drawing.

Serra Britt 08-05-2017 10:16 PM

Wow that's beautiful! You really did well on the coloring!

I'm still slightly better at sketching with traditional stuff, but digital is so much easier and I really do love my drawing tablet.

I'm currently drawing eyes for a comic page XD

@Den, yes that's the idea definitely. I'm getting lots of practice with consistency because of it XD

Den 08-05-2017 10:17 PM

I wish I had a tablet. I do all my digital stuff with a mouse.

Serra Britt 08-05-2017 10:26 PM

It's not like that's terrible Den. I did some decent stuff with a mouse when I started!

There are some pretty inexpensive but still nice drawing tablets out there :)

tsukiko 08-05-2017 10:26 PM

i remember my art i did using just a laptop touchpad "mouse". it was not fun, but it didn't come out too terrible.

thank you, serra. i hope yours comes out great too T_T

Wouldn't be an issue if I had a source of income. Right now, I don't really have one of those...

tsukiko 08-05-2017 10:28 PM

*hugs* :(

Serra Britt 08-05-2017 10:38 PM
