I'm having a similar issue with "ARRRRGH WHY THE HELL DO MY PARENTS WANT ME TO APPLY TO TWENTY-FIVE DIFFERENT COLLEGES."

-splutters- Yeah, I don't personally have the kind of money you need for a private school...

Demonskid 09-24-2011 09:39 PM

My mom never saved up for my collage and never encouraged me to go so here I am xD not in collage.

I kinda wish she did at least encourage me to go for a scholarship

I wrote an essay for math once. I can't for the life of me remember the topic...

I went to community college for 2 years and then a private university for 2 years. My parents just wanted me to go, and didn't care WHERE it was.

Quiet Man Cometh 09-24-2011 09:46 PM

Nothing wrong with going for a community college. I did that and it saved a pile of money, at least half per semester, and I didn't have to live on campus though that was worth it when I transferred to a University. In the grand scheme of things, nobody cares what your first and second year grades are. Your graduating grades (at least in Canada) are determined by courses in years three and four. Good grades in college will get you into a fancy pants university later on, so it's all good. Employers really only look at where you graduated from, not where you started to get there.

Nice outfit Esp. Didn't expect to see you here. :)

My dad and I split the cost of my schooling, the idea being that whatever I put in, he would match. Any surplus got covered by student loans, which I successfully managed to avoid. Hurrah! That my claim to fame more than the degree. ;). He didnt' care where I went or what I did, so long as I did something. As long as I was savingn for school, I could live at home rent free. If I was working and not doing anything otherwise, I was out of the house in 6 months.

@Quiet: I'm pretty much everywhere these days. Okay, okay, that might be exaggerating, but...I'm posting more than I had been a week ago.

Quiet Man Cometh 09-24-2011 09:48 PM

Spontaneous social rebirth or just on more often?

*is curious about where boots came from. Caped Avenger maybe? Got socks underneath for the fur trim appearance?

ugh frikken bots are getting me killed >o

Quiet Man Cometh 09-24-2011 09:52 PM

Bots?

I avoided math at all costs. I can do it but being a lit-head I was one of those people in class that has to ask the instuctor why moving the +2 to the other side of the equation suddenly made it a -2?, etc. If I didn't know how or why number became what it was or went where it did it drove me nuts and I didn't trust it. Ironically I think, my favourite part about math was algebra. Everything else was meh and long division was my hated enemy. It was the only thing I used a calculator for. I wrote my grade 8 math exam with a pencil and paper.

well i would not take it.. but its needed for my classes ^.^; programming and computer repair apparently thinks you should be good at math and engling

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c5...ves2-1-1-1.gif

Quiet Man Cometh 09-24-2011 09:58 PM

Math makes sense. I actually might have gone into the sciences but for the uprading I would for that. I still think about it from time to time.

English is needed for everything. It just is. That's the way of it I think. Every degree at every school I've been to has an english requirement, and in some schools there is also a writing intensive course requirement. An english course usually covers that too. They just want to be sure you know how to compose a proper sentence when you need to.
