I have never seen it. I watched Beetlejuice and Sweeney Todd and never really liked any of them. It is just not the humor for me, I suppose.
|
My brain is dead I gotta rest...
|
Aw. >: Go and try to nap, maybe? Unless having the cold will keep you up. Dx You must try to rest, though.
-hands some tea with honey- |
Saddie: Well Nightmare Before Christmas is kinda different, though I admit he concentrates a lot on death, but I actually don't think he does it in a grotesque way, and now I want to see The Corpse Bride.... aww....
|
Does http://www.squiby.net/preview/35728.png looks like a CAT/neko to any of you? D8
|
Yes, but why does it have two tails? :O and there's something alien-esque to it :O
|
He makes fun of it. Dx At least in Sweeney Todd for sure. Yes, in a way, it shows how humans really are, that the best taste to them is their own kind, but... I don't know, it still didnt appeal to me. Because most don't see what he meant with it, just the laughing part about death.
|
Saddie: Ah actually that's not something he came up with... it was this Victorian era novelist
I just think Tim Burton chose it because it has a theme of death and it's Victorian... which he seems to like ^^ |
Yes, that looks like a cat. A green cat, but still.
|
Well, you can make any book in all sorts of different movies. In any case, I just... don't know, am not much into American humor, I suppose. I know my brother laughed his head off at the "what is this, smells like..." part, but for me it was just roll eyes worthy.
To me it looks like some new creature, certainly not a cat. o3o; |
Lawl. XD http://www.squiby.net/create/21997
|
Ah but the author was from England
You'll have to understand that being poor in the Victorian Era of England was not fun at all, actually I think that the original book is meant very serious.... but in a way that make people laugh So yeah... something like what Sweeney Todd did could have happened... I mean we all know of Jack The Ripper, people were very desperate... and they did put rat and cats in their pies... Ah sorry I went all nerdy, I've studied the Victorian Era quite a lot... |
I have not read the book, i doubt all the jokes included are in the book, but maybe one day I will look it up and figure what I don't like then - the book or the movie or both. I am not saying that living back then was funny and I know about the pie part, like I said it wasn't the worst, just how it was handed to public. All those songs and killing scenes... It shows so clearly that human's life means nothing to others, that killing is even funny, and I think it already has been popularized enough.
In the end, I just don't see what's so strongly epic about it. |
Ah I see
Well it's not my favorite Tim Burton so I can't tell you... My all time favorite... you see.. is definitely Edward Scissorhands ^_^ It's such a sweet story |

Senyoru: Yes they ladies are scary as hell D:
I always end up feeling so sorry for poor Edward that I almost cry :/ |
Uhm, you guys know that Sweeney Todd is a Broadway musical that's about thirty years old, right?
It didn't go from book to Tim Burton movie. |
Never been to a musical...
|
You didn't go to nap, Senyoru?
|
Johnny: Of course, just saying that it originated from a book. I actually saw the Danish version of the Musical in the theatre not long ago... I love going to the theatre
|
Nah didn't feel like it...
|
You guys were sort of talking about it like it was Tim Burton's idea to sing about death and murder, so I just had to clarify. Tim Burton's only input on the movie was the casting decisions, really - everything else, from the music to the costumes to the characters - was already established by the Broadway show.
@Senyoru: I've been to two Broadway-style musicals. "Monty Python's Spamalot" and "The Lion King on Broadway". God, the Lion King one was the best thing ever. |
I sort of just...don't get the idea about musicals... Dx
|
I have never been to musical, but I like going to theater. Darn tickets for being expensive. ;w; I also enjoy ballet. <3
I was claiming I didn't like the movie, the plot it self, and it doesn't matter who ever made it. In any case, Tim Burton made it all popular again. >o< But you must rest! D: Though... it's really boring to just lay down in bed. ;;>.> |
I love musicals.
But I really love rock operas. "Jesus Christ Superstar", "The Who's Tommy", "Pink Floyd's The Wall". I just really love music. And if the music put into a musical is done correctly, it can better convey an emotion or thought than just words ever could. If done poorly, they suck, of course. Musicals make me so happy, though. :3 |
My personal favorite (and we have nothing like broadway here, instead we have theatres all over the country) is Treasure Island with music by the Danish sing-song writer Sebastian... I've loved that one since I was very little ^_^
|
-cuddles her music and naps on top of it-

|
Aw, why, Aiko? D:
|
Because I was washing pencil marks of the wall in my new place today Dx
And right now I am glad it's not my duty to clean the kitchen (and that I have enough mechanical things to live without the kitchen) I tell you, if I ever get kids, they will never EVER be allowed to paint on the wall D< |
*paints of Aiko's wall* :'D
|
Oh my. D8 Sounds like lot of work indeed. >o< -sends pain soothing magic your way-
