O-O Tentacle hug. XD eep. Hi again haha. How've you been?
|
And yet are rather similar in some ways. In one, you start a fire to open the gates to an Alexandrian temple. In the other, you hack into the automatic door/side of a robotic giant turtle.
*Hugs the ml1201* |
Looks like you know how to make your way into places, then Lawman. XD
|
*Is sucked into a time vortex*
Apparently... *Is spat back out - chaos tastes bad to time* |
Lol. :P Have you written any time-related stories as of late?
|
Working on it!
(Two of them...One talks about a vagrant who stumbles upon a time paradox in the form of a living ship with his older dying self on board...the other is about a cephalopod who has abilities between a "blink dog" and those immortal jellyfish...who through involuntary testing and adventures thereafter winds up reversing the disorder and biochemical processes of its underwater world, cleaning it of pollution and setting things back to the dawn of squid civilization...) ...Lawtan is odd... |
If you could ever made like a 3d digital world of your own I would so visit it just to see what it's like. XD
But yeah it sounds like it would be difficult to write about anything involving time or such. <_> The living ship one sounds interesting... I don't think I've heard of a living ship before. o.0 |
Farscape and Dune come to mind...
But yeah, I sort of figured that a structure that could maintain itself despite speeds greater than the speed of light would need to be able to rapidly fix itself, so something living. ...Also have a horror story about a Nautiloid abomination infecting people with fungi to create the resources needed to power a device akin to a particle accelerator...but for exploring and manipulating strings (string theory exploration) |

I feel like I might've heard of Farscape, but there's so many -scapes out there. XD I don't believe I've heard of Dune though...
And yeah I would kinda guess so o-o It's still interesting though. That definitely does sound sorta horror-ific. o.o Kinda makes me think of the Matrix for some reason. xD Hi, Trystan~ O: |
Farscape was on SciFi in the late 90s when SciFi was still good. it was about an astronaut, John Crichton, who ended up going through a wormhole and ended up on the other side of the universe, on a living ship of escaped prisoners. and that's just the opening episode. it ran for four seasons and ended with a 2-part, 2-hour mini-series.
Dune is a huge epic (a) book series that the first book was made into (b) a movie and then (c) the first book was a mini-series; and books 2 and 3 were also mini-series on SciFi... when SciFi was good. it's a multi-planet 'verse that spans thousands of years, the first book, Dune, taking place in 10191 A.G. - After Guild (the Spacing Guild, that is). there's 6 books in the series by the original author, and then two more after by his son & a co-author. and there's a number of prequel trilogies, as well as 2 books that take place between the books of the original series. ... i might have all of 'em that are out so far. there's another one due out later this year, too. |
Dune is a science fiction series on par with Asimov's Foundation series. It takes place in a feudal interstellar empire, where "spice" provides long life and "sandworms" guard the precious very limited substance.
Farscape is Jim Henson's Science Fiction epic...essentially, it is very bio-punk (punk being "sci-fi" - steampunk is "science fiction 19th century victorian style")...so there are symbiotes that translate languages and break language barriers between sentient species, ships birthing ships, reptillians and humans modified to be xenophobic "peacekeepers"...and an astrophysicist from "primitive" Earth in early 2000 is lost via a wormhole among all this. xD - ninja'd by trystan |
...yours sounds better than mine, Lawtan! =) mine is kinda boring.
|
Nah they're both very explainative. XD I've never seen either though. Never been too much of a scifi buff. X: Thanks to both of you though I know about them a bit. xD
Did either of you see the new Star Wars movie? O: |
I haven't .-.
Is it good? I was told it was a rehash of the original trilogy. |
thanks, Vincent!
i've seen the Force Awakens three times (twice in the theatre in 3D and once on my DVD player, since i have the DVD... as well as the original score on CD. 'a rehash of the original trilogy'? kinda. it's repackaged and characters have new names, and there is a Big Bad, but there's only so many characterizations & plots out there..... but i liked it. (then again, i like pretty much everything i watch and read. if i don't like it, i stop watching or reading it. =) |
I haven't either. XD Never really been interested in star wars. I've heard it was decent though...
And huh so it's kinda like... a redo for the newer generation and how things are made lately... or something like that. O: idk. |
i've seen the Holy Trilogy as well as the Prequel movies. and about 2011, i started reading the Expanded Universe books - there's a lot of them! - starting with Star Wars and moving forward in time. i'm just not interested in the Old Republic, or what's gone before Star Wars the original.
yeah, it's kinda like that. but it's what i call the Disney!Verse, because it's mostly different than what the Expanded!Verse books were about. ('Disney!Verse' and 'Expanded!Verse' are my words.) |
I have actually looked at some of the expanded-verse stuff. A sub shop keeps a few of them available to read. The stuff about Luke's family is interesting.
Any word on Jar Jar being a Sith Lord? I read a reddit on that once and thought it would be funny/clever. |
ah, that's cool. what have you read about Luke's family? the series i'm reading (listed in my sig) takes place about 40 or so years ABY - After the Battle of Yavin, so i've pretty much read most of the timeline forward. i'm on book 2 out of a 9-book series, and then after that i have one more stand-alone, and then ... i'll need to find another series to read!
i have no idea if that's true or just a crazy internet idea. however, there's an author, Ian Doescher, who write the William Shakespeare's Star Wars books (i have all 6 thus far) and i LOVE how he wrote Jar-Jar in his books. (not a Sith Lord though.) |
The stuff where a Handmaiden loyal to Palpatine tries to kill Luke...and [insert romantic plot here] and [insert revolving door of good/evil here] and [insert mind control resurrect great evil through human sacrifice plot here]
...[insert [insert] here] |
accurate. and LOL!
although, not really Handmaiden, more like Hand of the Emperor. |
It's 2 am my time...
...I'll be offline doing some things... <.< |
meanwhile, at 3:04 AM my time, I'm dinking around in Transformers: Earth Wars, and waiting for my shuttle and one of my alloy storage to finish upgrading so I can start on the other alloy storage so i can eventually upgrade my base HQ to level 9.
|
i think i went to bed around 2 a.m. my time (eastern time.)
didn't want to get up this morning... but that's every morning. i have my 2nd job tomorrow, and don't have to be in until 1 in the afternoon. =D |

I just need to make stats for the heroes and I'm done. :3 |
Whutnow, ml?
|
I'm running two games of Basic Fantasy and two games of Monsters! Monsters! at the con I'm going to. I even came up with a story that will have one of two endings depending on how things play out. >:3

aww, is a Cutebat.
|
That bat is adorable. XD

Thanks, guys. LOL I don't collect the bats, but when I saw how purple Rattrap is, I had to get him.

Stargate episode:
Jack: I do appreciate that you were the one to visit me. Really means alot. Daniel: Umm, no, no it doesn't. Jack: *puzzled face* Daniel: Actually, we drew straws. I lost. *Each team member looks at Jack awkwardly before heading out.* ...It made me laugh...This is what I like about Stargate - it's not just about the Stargate and Sci-fi adventure...it has a more human/funny element. |
LOL! Yeah, that's what I liked too. I'll have to show you the one fanfic I did of it one day.
|
I saw the words stargate and fanfic
