Ah, I have something similar, when I breath cold air I cough uncontrollably because it causes lung spasms.

It passes after my core temperature drops so the air is no longer colder than my lungs want...

It was something I was born with so I generally have to be wrapped up warm till the middle of august

At least its manageable.
