actually any color plate if what he uses is colored XD and paint or chalk or crayons or colored pencils or anything

well what I was going to have him do is draw basic shapes in the salt since he does not have pencil or paper. Just use your finger to trace the shapes then move on to organic shapes like fruits.

actually no if you had a pen or pencil and notebook paper you could easily draw circles and squares as if you were learning cursive. They are the basic building blocks of any thing in art.
