My art teacher saw it yesterday and was all excited for me to read it. XD Ahh, I love my art teacher. <33 You'd probably like her. No nonsense person who is down to earth, but very spiritually aware.

.rousium 03-17-2011 10:08 PM

Yeah, I probably would like her. I like that description..spiritually aware. It's good stuff!

Are you liking the book?

Pisces 03-17-2011 10:44 PM

I'm adoring it! I have to go in small bits, and digest it slowly. Aaanndd the Women of the Otherworld books keep demanding my attention. I need two brains and two pairs of eyes.

.rousium 03-17-2011 10:56 PM

I'm glad that they all made ya happy tho. :)

I finished Mathilda and started The Castle of Wolfenbach. I really like the new one! Mathilda was...it was alright.

Pisces 03-17-2011 10:59 PM

Started out okay and then sort of didn't give off as good of an ending?

.rousium 03-17-2011 11:04 PM

Eh, more like it...well, I don't really know. It was a neat story but the author's style is just kinda strange? Which isn't to say it's unreadable just kind of a leap. It's very, very mopey. But..i'd be mopey too if my mother died in child birth and my father left me to an aunt who was cold for the first 16 years of my life only to come back and admit that he's in love with me and leaves again which in turn causes me to retreat into the woods to live as a hermit until I meet a man in the woods who has had his own share of tragedy but then eventually I just die.

Pisces 03-17-2011 11:15 PM

Wait, what? That HAPPENED to the author? Or is that the story? Either way, holy cow man. I definitely think some mope is called for. D:

.rousium 03-17-2011 11:17 PM

The story but it's said that parts of the book are autobiographical. When she wrote it she gave it to her father to print it and needless to say it didn't get printed - for a while.

Pisces 03-17-2011 11:20 PM

Eeep. =( Poor thing! Jeez. I think I'd rather my father not be a big part of my life than come up to me and say he's in love with me. *shudders* I can't imagine living with that over my head.

.rousium 03-17-2011 11:24 PM

Which is why she goes into hiding because of course she did something to provoke him. :P

Pisces 03-17-2011 11:30 PM

Poor girl. I hope that creep got some karmic justice. Whichever part was true, and whichever wasn't, he still needs some good karmic ass kicking. D<

.rousium 03-17-2011 11:39 PM

I think it goes with the time period and with the genre. It kills me because we discuss the books in class and my teacher.. *rolls eyes* you can't take the effing books out of context man. In a modern world..yes, these women are idiots but back then man..it's how shit was.

/rant

Pisces 03-17-2011 11:42 PM

Oh, gosh, I hate that too. Sometimes it's a pain to get a history lesson when you're not expecting it, but really, it helps enhance the books even more. If you understand the culture and how it impacts the book, you understand it so much more. And, hell, once upon a time, females couldn't write books without being called harlots, so, talk to the hand Mr. I-Don't-Need-Context

.rousium 03-17-2011 11:45 PM

It's history man..it wasn't always great news but if you disregard it then it takes away from now.

I don't think i'm going to school tomorrow. Did I already say that? Alan says he'll turn in my math homework but man..i'm sneezing and buckets of gross are coming out and I can't help it. I went Wednesday and I could just feel people glaring at me because I was coughing so much, lol.

Pisces 03-17-2011 11:50 PM

Awww, yeah, I don't go out in public as a rule if my nose is leaking grossness. There's nothing more embarrassing than thinking you're wiping off a teeny bit of snot and this whole glob emerges from your nose. Like, ew? *huggles* Get some sleep! Don't push yourself!

.rousium 03-17-2011 11:54 PM

I slept for about 5 hours ..woke up about 8:30? Alan should be home soon and then i'll prolly go lay back down and relax or something.

Pisces 03-17-2011 11:56 PM

<333 Well, I have to go sleep for grandma's tomorrow, so go relax. I'll be offline until Sat. evening, but you can text me if you get bored while snot runs out your nose. >=D Heehee.

Ilu! Get well and feel better. *huggles*

.rousium 03-17-2011 11:57 PM

Have fun with your grandma! ilu2 :)

Pisces 03-19-2011 09:18 PM

*pops in*

Hallo! How are we all?

Angel Spirit Girl 03-20-2011 08:08 PM

I'm enjoying reading Sabriel and Abhorsen by Garth Nix.

I could not find my copy of Sabriel, so I got it from the library.

I liked it so much that I got the next book in the series when I was done.

Corvus 03-20-2011 10:54 PM

I liked Sabriel and Lirael, but could never get through Abhorsen

Ginger 03-20-2011 10:56 PM

I wanna read soo bad.. but I also want to watch a movie! Decisions, decisions...

I think I'll go with a movie tonight and a book tomorrow.

Corvus 03-20-2011 11:05 PM

read the lincoln lawyer...then go see the movie of it

Pisces 03-20-2011 11:10 PM

Oh! Garth Nix is an awesome author! I liked his one trilogy. His other series isn't that bad either, like Mister Monday and those.

Movie is good if you're under time restraints on said movie.

.rousium 03-20-2011 11:15 PM

*hasn't heard of any of these stuffs*

Haha, it's like that for me too Ginger. Read or listen to music. I just can't do both at the same time.

Corvus 03-20-2011 11:17 PM

Shade's Children was pretty good

Pisces 03-20-2011 11:19 PM

I can't read without music! Well, I guess I can, but I prefer to have both. =P Whole sedatephobia thing. I prefer stuff without words, though.

Rousi, I think you'd like Garth Nix as well. He's like, somewhere between adult fiction and Young Adult fiction. Like, super mature Young Adult fiction, just for plot idea and stuff (it's not fluffy handed to you on a plate kind of writing. You have to be intelligent. But it's still considered Young Adult. XP)

I don't think I've read that one! D:

Corvus 03-20-2011 11:20 PM

Was the keys to the kingdom okay?

Pisces 03-20-2011 11:26 PM

Eehhh...never finished it, ahaha. But the ones I read were very good. =D

Corvus 03-20-2011 11:28 PM

lol, nice, I'm kinda burned out on the young adult fiction, Once I hit the actual SF&F aisle I've never looked back...except for Skulduggery Pleasant

Pisces 03-20-2011 11:30 PM

I have a teeny library. Whatever isn't in the Young Adult fiction is either erotica or super boring "thrillers." X__X

Corvus 03-20-2011 11:38 PM

Erotica, nice collection there...I keep having to clean out my room of old books every year or two because I accumulate so many

Pisces 03-20-2011 11:53 PM

Yeaaahhh... that's not exactly a genre I like to read, lol, so it becomes frustrating. On one hand, though, I've become almost an expert at just reading book titles and knowing whether or not it's of the risque kind. XD

I need more shelves. X__X My books...poor books. Most of them still live in a box.
