I know now this FFVII you speak of, apart from the characters and most of the plot and details that have been garnered from a great many video game sites, ravings from fans, and the appearances of character in fanfiction, despite never having actually read any fan fiction that is FFVII specific.

I'm a huge fan of the movie though. ;).

The only FF game I've actually played and seen played through is FFIX, or FFTactics A2 (something about a Grimoire) if that counts. Have FFXII, not too keen on it. I can't leave Vaan alone in a fight or he gets himself killed. Sigh.

haven't played either and suprizingly with the exsepton of the first move didn't hear of a damn thing until 7 ^^

Well, the "VII" part doesn't really count numerically, it just follows the story in Final Fantasy VII while I'm not even sure how the old movie relates to the series. Never really bothered to watch it beyond a few scenes though.
