Awww! :) Yeah, we're super happy to talk pets here. Sometimes I think that the mixed guys are so much cuter then full bloods.

Yah, I am all about rescuing! I understand that some breeds were created for a purpose, but for the average family I think it is perfectly acceptable (and encouraged!) to adopt from a shelter.

That's awesome of you. :) I just have two kittens right now. Well..they're almost three but they act like they're 3 months old. They were sort of a rescue. They were GOING to the shelter if I didn't take them. Makes me sad to think of them being there. Ugh..shelters, they just seem so cold and lonely.

femme gauche 02-15-2011 11:07 PM

Aw... yeah. :(. Of course, they are better than the streets. My mother and sister and myself were going to try and volunteer at our local shelter, but we became too busy. Still though, it is nice that those animals get at least a little bit of comfort and affection.

*wanders in* I've always gotten my kitties from local shelters, except for my two current ones. I got them from my landlady, who had gotten them from shelters, lol

femme gauche 02-16-2011 12:05 AM

Well, if you get them from someone else who can't take care of them anymore or something like that, I see that as pretty much being the same thing <3.

Ana 02-16-2011 12:25 AM

Hehe, yeah. ^^ My landlady is really into rescuing cats from shelters, but she can't always keep them permanently. She gave me Frisky, because when I moved in her really took to me and vise versa, plus he wasn't getting along with the other cats. Then a couple month later she asked me if i wanted to take Abby because the people who were supposed to take her backed out and she just really couldn't keep another kitty. So now I have two loveys <3

femme gauche 02-16-2011 12:32 AM

Aw, that's nice though :). It is always nice to see people willing to take care of these animals like that. I mean after all we created them, we ought to be able to care for them. Just like children.

Ana 02-16-2011 12:38 AM

Yeah, luckily she has a huge house, since she keeps slowly collecting more and more kitties, lol. She's not a "cat lady" though, you'd never realize how many cats she has in the house unless you actually see them all. She keeps the house super clean.

femme gauche 02-16-2011 12:48 AM

That's good xP. I think that is a silly sort of thing ot ridicule, though... it is just an echo of old times when unmarried women were pushed to the outskirts of their social environments xP. Obviously it is very different now, though.

Ana 02-16-2011 12:56 AM

Yeah, I can see that to a degree. But when I say "cat lady" I mean the kind that have too many cats in their house, to the point that they can't properly take care of them and the house smells and is dirty. To me "cat lady" isn't about how many cats you have or your social status, but whether or not you can properly care for the cats you've taken on.

femme gauche 02-16-2011 01:01 AM

Haha yeah , I know what you mean. It is like those "animal hoarders". :(. It is just sad. People get obsessive, they think they can take care of them all but they just cannot do it.

Ana 02-16-2011 01:06 AM

Yeah, hoarding of any kind is sad and really destructive for the lives of the people afflicted with the disorder. But when it's animals that the people are hoarding, that's even sadder, because it's not just the person that suffers but the animals.

femme gauche 02-16-2011 01:11 AM

Yeah, exactly :(. There was a case of it... like two years ago I think, here. There was a man who had like, 120 chihuahuas or something. I dunno, I think he passed on or something and no one knew until they found his house nad looked inside. The hygiene was so poorly attended that the house had to be torn down. Fortunately though, all of the rescued dogs found homes!

Ana 02-16-2011 01:15 AM

Oh wow. I'm glad all the dogs were able to find homes. Poor puppies.

Argh. My cats have started fighting all of a sudden. Or, if it's not true fighting, it's a type of playing that's uncomfortably intense to watch. They've never done that before. Until about a week ago, they always played nice.

femme gauche 02-16-2011 01:18 AM

Aw... eep it is always hard for me to tell with cats. XD.
