Sure. That could work out. Keep in mind that 1.) if she's behind, say, a thick metal plate or lots of boulders or something of the sort, it'll be hard to "see" her, and 2.) she'll appear as a blurry cloud to him, brightness and color depending on psychic/magic ability and personality...
