Brian didn't actually hear her come in. He had his headphones on and his eyes glued to his computer screen as he tried to redo a section of the drawing he was less than thrilled with. Slender reading frames rested on his nose, brown painted rectangular frames with slight curvature. He had been advised by his sister that they looked decent and weren't an absolute embarrassment to human kind. Then he had been told to buy them.
Brian didn't complain. There was a few uses for bossy older sisters. Keeping you on track and away from looking like something that the cat had dragged in was one of them.
Today, he had chosen to go casual. A black button down (that had once been neatly pressed before he had begun to hunch over his desk), a pair of khaki slacks (again pressed and now slightly wrinkled, but in better shape than the shirt), and his all-black Vans were his chosen attire today. The button down had long sleeves, but they had been long ago rolled up so that the warm air in the drafting room tended to have. There was, of course, his immediate supervisor, Jack Marsh, and four other individuals besides himself. All of them were men.
Anyway.... He didn't notice when Maia had come in. Jack, however, did.
"Hello, Maia. What can I do for you?" The potbellied man asked, his own glasses not for reading but for mere sight. He was an old dog and knew his way better around a board than he did around a computer. That didn't mean Marsh didn't know that computer, of course. But he was a true artist. Had been at the board since before Brian himself had been born. His hair was gray and he had a receding hairline. Brian knew that despite his happy grandpa appearance (and Marsh was indeed a grandpa), he was in fact had the lungs and command of a drill sergeant when pissed.
I am a female. Therefore please use 'she'.
